Vanessa Valenciano
Vanessa Rose Valenciano of Lawa‘i died Oct. 8, 2009, at her home at age 52. Born on Sept. 28, 1957, on Kaua‘i, she was a waitress.
She is survived by her husband Macklin Valenciano of Kaua‘i; daughters Shayla Agosto of Kaua‘i, Shaylin Valenciano of Kaua‘i and Shilum Agosto of Kaua‘i; brothers Revlon Parker of California, Terrance (Angie) Parker of Kaua‘i, William (Lynda) Mullen of California and Paul (Irene) Mullen of California and sister Holly Peters of O‘ahu.
Visitation from 6 to 9 p.m., cremation to follow, on Thursday, Oct. 15, at Borthwick Kaua‘i Memorial Chapel in Koloa.

Asae Oshita
Asae Marumoto Oshita of Gardena, Calif., died Sept. 24, 2009, at her home at age 76. Born on Dec. 16, 1932, in Kilauea, Kaua‘i, she worked for administrative support for CalTrans.
She is survived by her husband George Oshita; daughter Lynn Oshita; sister-in-law Lillian Marumoto; sisters Shizue (Ernest) Kimura, Marjorie (Gary) Konishi, Tamae (Stanley) Endo and Maxine (Clarence) Yamamoto; brother-in-law Tadashi (Masako) Oshita; sister-in-law Hatsumi Arita; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Services were held on Oct. 3, at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Los Angeles.

Robert Westmoreland
Robert (Bob) Westmoreland of Princeville died Oct. 6, 2009, at his home at age 74. Born on Aug. 30, 1935, in Los Angeles, Calif., he was a retired make-up artist for the movie and television Industry.
He is survived by his wife Susy, stepchildren Cori and Steve, brothers Mike and Ned.
Private services will be at a later date.

David Vasconcelles Sr.
David S. Vasconcelles Sr. of Koloa died Oct. 7, 2009, at his home at age 65. Born on Nov. 2, 1943, he was a retired welder at Lihu‘e Plantation.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ceasar and Sophie Vasconcelles and his brother Dennis Vasconcelles.
He is survived by his wife Leila Vasconcelles; daughters Stephanie (Glen) Catiggay of Hanama‘ulu, Denise (Maury) Pacheco of Hilo and Candace (Kiley) Fernandez of Koloa; son David Vasconcelles Jr. of Hilo; sister Matilda (Don) Frazier of Garden Grove, Calif.; seven grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation at 10 a.m., Mass at 11:30 a.m., on Monday, Oct. 12, at St. Raphael’s Church in Koloa. Cremation to follow.

Rocco Mollicone
Rocco Jay Mollicone of Honolulu died Sept. 27, 2009, in Honolulu at age 71. Born in Connecticut, he was a residential service coordinator for The Arc in Hawai‘i and retired as the Hilton Corp. general manager.
He is survived by his daughter Michele Leanio; sons Christopher Nevins and Gregory; brother Russell DiBevedetto; hanai brother Tim Collins; sister Joyce Parsons; hanai sister Chistina Hogan; grandchildren Danielle Leanio, Jordan Leanio, Cameron (Rocco) Leanio and Melissa Mollicone.

Ralph Urabe of Kapa‘a died Oct. 6, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 85. Born Oct. 1, 1924, in Lihu‘e, he was a retired postal clerk with Kapa‘a Post Office and proprietor of Urabe Store in Kapa‘a.
He was preceded in death by his parents Kenzo and Shizue Urabe, stepmother Mizue Urabe, brothers Howard and Henry Urabe, brothers-in-law Robert Iwamoto and Charles Tamura.
He is survived by his wife Katherine Urabe of Kapa‘a; son Clifford (Gail) Urabe of Mililani; daughters Sheila Yamashiro of Kapa‘a and Joyce (Clifton) Sato of Kalaheo; brother George (Lily) Urabe of Pearl City; sisters Helen Iwamoto of Kaneohe and Elaine Tamura of Kapa‘a; sister-in-law Betty Urabe of Gardena, Calif.; grandchildren Rae (Chad Gummerus) Yamashiro of Kapa‘a, Ken Yamashiro of Honolulu, Dawn (Marcus) Meaney of Pearl City, Cari-Ann Urabe of New York, Elysse Sato of Oregon and Jordan Sato of Oregon; great-grandchildren Eryn Yamashiro and Justin Gummerus; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Isamu Higa
Isamu “Higgins” Higa of Kapa‘a died Oct. 4, 2009, at home at age 84. Born on Aug. 25, 1925, on Kaua‘i, he was a World War II veteran and retired from Hawaii Air National Guard.
He is survived by his son Kevin (Udom) Higa of New Mexico; daughter Sherlyn (Irwin) Haraguchi of Kilauea; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers Tetsuo and Yoshio of Kaua‘i and Hirose of California; sisters Akiko Ebisui of Honolulu, Sachiko Morimoto of California and Fumiko Chow of Kaua‘i; caregivers Michael Manguchei and Ford Sueoka; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation at 10 a.m., services at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at Kaua‘i Veterans Center in Lihu‘e.
