Juan Villar Belmes
Juan Villar Belmes of Koloa died Nov. 13, 2009, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 85. Born on July 23, 1924, he was a retired restaurant owner, manager and bartender.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bonifacio and Salvacion; brother Jose Bonifacio Jr.; sisters Juanita Manuela, Salustiana, Carmen and Josefa.
He is survived by his wife Nisbe Belmes; sisters Alicia and Flora; daughter Teresa (Gary) Allianic; son Michael (Vietnam) Belmes; three grandchildren; two hanai grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Visitation at 8 a.m., Mass at 9 a.m., on Saturday, Nov. 21, at St. Raphael’s Church. Casual attire is suggested and the family requests that flowers be omitted.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary.
Hajime Moribe
Hajime Moribe of Kalaheo died Nov. 11, 2009, at his home at age 81. Born on April 4, 1928, in Makaweli, he was a retired trailer-truck driver and welder with Olokele Sugar Plantation.
He is survived by his wife Victoria; sons Wayne (Lillian) Moribe of ‘Oma‘o and Glen Moribe of Kalaheo; daughter Joy (Mike) Moribe-McGill of Germantown, Md.; two grandchildren; brother Kenzo Moribe of California; sisters Katheryn (Richard) Afuso of O‘ahu; Edith (James) Baldovi of California and Asayo Moribe of O‘ahu; uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation at 3 p.m., service at 4 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 21, at Hanapepe Hongwanji.
Casual attire is suggested and flowers are welcome.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Edorable Manansala Sr.
Edorable Lagadon Manansala Sr. of Hanama‘ulu died Nov. 12, 2009, at Straub Clinic and Hospital in O‘ahu at age 78. Born on Oct. 26, 1931, in Pasuquin Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he retired from Lihu‘e Sugar Plantation as a haul cane truck driver.
He was preceded in death by his parents Salvacion Lagadon and Melicio Manansala and brother Leocardio Manansala of the Philippines.
He is survived by his wife Josephine Manansala; daughters Della Simmons of Alaska, Trisa (Michael) Stubbs of Texas, Diana (Peter) Hirsch of Texas and Tanya Oligo (Kevin Doty) of Colorado; son Edorable (Susan) Manansala Jr. of Hanama‘ulu; sisters Rose (Ray) Ramos of Waipahu and Annie (Ernest) Pabustan of Kapa‘a; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, numerous nieces nephews and cousins.
Visitation from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m., Mass at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Nov. 21, at Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.
Casual attire is suggested.
