Nemecio ‘Mike’ Villanueva
Nemecio G. “Mike” Villanueva of ‘Oma‘o died March 4, 2010, at Hospice Hawai‘i, at age 70. Born on March 3, 1940, in Koloa, he was a retired bartender and Hanalei taro farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents Domingo Villanueva and Maria Villanueva, brother Bernardo Villanueva and sister Julianna Elaydo.
He is survived by his children Jarret (Teresa) Villanueva, Jonilyn (Gary) Garza, Michael (Carmel) Villanueva, MIchaeline (Karl) Kunewa and Troy (Hennie) Villanueva; hanai son Kaleo Peterson; sister Rosita (Michael) Fitzgerald; nephew Michael (Michelle) Fitzgerald; niece Stephanie Fitzgerald; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three great-nieces and three great-nephews.
Memorial service from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., on Sunday, March 21, at Seventh Day Adventist Church in Kapa‘a.
Casual attire is suggested.

Bacillio ‘Dickie’ Laranio
Bacillio “Dickie” Laranio of Kapahi died March 5, 2010, at The Queen’s Medical Center, O‘ahu, at age 83. Born on March 2, 1927 in Anahola, he was a retired platoon sergeant in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents Roman and Severina Laranio; sisters Helen Mandrial and Mary Rasay, and brother Francisco Omaya.
He is survived by his wife Crispina Laranio; sons Richard (Donna) Laranio and John Laranio; daughters Diana (Clifford) Mancia and Linda (Calvin) Tani; brother Domingo Laranio; 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Visitation from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., service at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, March 27, at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery pavilion. Burial to follow.
Casual attire is suggested.

Ismael Garcia
Ismael L. Garcia of Kapa‘a died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on March 10, 2010 at age 96. Born in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on March 22, 1913, he was a loader with Lihu‘e Plantation Company.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Angela Garcia; son, Francisco Garcia; grandson, Ronald Garcia; parents, Silvano and Francisca Garcia; sisters, Vicenta Garcia, Felicidad Calpito, Felipa Soller and Tomasa Garcia; and son-in-law, Manuel Manguchei Jr.
He is survived by his son, Prudencio (Edita) Garcia of Puhi; daughters, Mary Manguchei of Kapa‘a, Pat (Marcos) Aguda of Las Vegas, Ellen (Joseph) Rosa of Lihu‘e; daughter-in-law, Victoria Garcia of Hanama‘ulu; grandchildren, Florante Garcia, Susan Garcia, Dennis (Marie Rose) Garcia, Janice (Erin) Zoll, Albert Garcia, Erick Manguchei, Orlando Manguchei, Jeff (Melisa) Garcia, Zelda (Buddy) Viernes, Bernadette Garcia, Leilani (Brett) Penny, Shelly (Christopher) Marquez, Mark Patrick (Miriam) Aguda; 26 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Church, with Mass at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Garcia family with arrangements.
Ramon F. Viernes
Ramon F. Viernes of Kapa‘a passed away on March 17, 2010 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 55. Born in the Philippines on Jan. 20, 1955, he was a landscaper.
Preceded in death by mother Maxima Viernes. Survived by father, Pedro Viernes, wife Zenaida D. Viernes, daughters Cherrie Lyn D. Viernes, Hilary Viernes, Joann Viernes; sons Jason Viernes, Densel Viernes; brothers, Jesus (Tarcila) Viernes, Benigo (Leonora) Viernes, Danilo Viernes; sisters Pacita (Armenio) Miguel, Erlinda (Eduardo) Viernes Lactaotao.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, March 25 at St. Catherine Catholic Church, Kapa‘a, with visitation at 8 a.m. and Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m., with burial to follow at St. Catherine Cemetery.

Mauricio Fermin
Lourdes Mauricio Fermin, 83, of Kalaheo, died at home March 16, 2010. She was born in Isabella, Philippines on Dec. 9, 1926.
Preceded in death by daughter Elisa Fermin, she is survived by husband Platon Fermin; sons Vicente (Corine) Fermin of Kalaheo and Wilbert (Fe) Fermin of Honolulu; one grandchild.
Services are Monday, March 22 at the Garden Island Mortuary chapel, with visitation from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and service at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Hanapepe Public Cemetery. The family requests casual attire.

Louis Spielman
Louis Victor Spielman, 62, of Honaunau, Hawai‘i, died March 16 at his residence. Born May 22, 1947 in New York City, he was a former anesthesiologist at Kona Community Hospital, and previously practiced in Bethel, Alaska, as a doctor for the U.S. Public Health Service. For the past 15 years he resided on his coffee farm in South Kona.
Private services are to be held. Memorial donations in his name may be made to West Hawai‘i Humane Society or Hospice of Kona.
He is survived by brothers Stuart (Annabel) Spielman of Kaua‘i, and Scott (Ruth) Spielman of Pennsylvania; sister Sara (Charles) Augenbraun of Connecticut; numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are being handled by Cremation Services of West Hawai‘i.
Elsie Agan
Elsie Agan of Kapa‘a died March 10, 2010, at home at age 67. Born Feb. 27, 1943, in Waimea, Kaua‘i, she was a resident with the Steadfest family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cornelio Mier and Lucia Bruce Mier.
She is survived by five sons: Stanley Agan Jr. of Waimea, Reynald Gene (Dolly) Agan of Hanapepe, Patrick (Maricel) Agan of Kalaheo, Derreck (Melinda) Agan of ‘Oma‘o and Darin (Ding) Agan of Las Vegas; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Clarence (Carmen) Mier of O‘ahu; sisters, Mary Otlang of Kalaheo, Dolores (Jaime) Roldan of O‘ahu and Connie (Raymond) Agan of California.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 27, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, with visitation from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and Mass at 11 a.m. Casual attire is suggested and flowers are requested to be omitted.
