Nemecio ‘Mike’ Villanueva
Nemecio G. “Mike” Villanueva of ‘Oma‘o died March 4, 2010, at Hospice Hawai‘i, at age 70. Born on March 3, 1940, in Koloa, he was a retired bartender and Hanalei taro farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents Domingo Villanueva and Maria Villanueva, brother Bernardo Villanueva and sister Julianna Elaydo.
He is survived by his children Jarret (Teresa) Vilanueva, Jonilyn (Gary) Garza, Michael (Carmel) Villanueva, MIchaeline (Karl) Kunewa and Troy (Hennie) Villanueva; hanai son Kaleo Peterson; sister Rosita (Michael) Fitzgerald; nephew Michael (Michelle) Fitzgerald; niece Stephanie Fitzgerald; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three great-nieces and three great-nephews.
Memorial service from 3 to 5 p.m., on Sunday, March 21, at Seventh Day Adventist Church in Kapa‘a.
Casual attire is suggested.

Rodney Ahn
Rodney Soo Yong Ahn of Kalalau died Feb. 14, 2010, at Kalalau at age 58. Born on Nov. 14, 1951, in Waimea, Kaua‘i, he was a substitute teacher for the Department of Education.
He was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Grace Ahn.
He is survived by his brother Nolan (Jennie) Ahn; sisters Lorna Muraoka, Suzanne (Richard) Matsumoto and Maxine (Darick) Akita; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation at 1 p.m., service at 3 p.m., on Sunday, March 28, at the Kekaha Harbor House. Ashes to be scattered.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Na Pali Coast ‘Ohana in memory of Rodney Ahn.

Bacillio ‘Dickie’ Laranio
Bacillio “Dickie” Laranio of Kapahi died March 5, 2010, at Queen’s Medical Center, O‘ahu, at age 83. Born on March 2, 1927, in Anahola, he was a retired platroon sargent in the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents Roman and Severina Laranio; sisters Helen Mandrial and Mary Rasay and brother Francisco Omaya.
He is survived by her wife Crispina Laranio; sons Richard (Donna) Laranio and John Laranio; daughters Diana (Clifford) Mancia, Linda (Calvin) Tani; brother Domingo Laranio; 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Visitation from 9 to 10:30 a.m., service at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, March 27, at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery Pavilion. Burial to follow.

Tsutomu Yamamoto
Tsutomu Yamamoto of Hanapepe died at Kaua‘i Care Center on March 16, 2010 at age 89. Born in Hanapepe on August 3, 1920, he was a retired mechanic with the State of Hawai‘i, Parks Division.
He is survived by his wife, Mihoe “Florence” Yamamoto; children, Brian (Joy) Yamamoto of Maui, Lannice (Kevin) Chang of O‘ahu, William (Arlene) Yamamoto of California, Earl (Angie) Yamamoto of O‘ahu, June (Nathan) Plain of O‘ahu and Vance (Anne) Yamamoto of Kekaha; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas (Geraldine) Yamamoto of Hanapepe; sisters, Jane (Hajime) Kuribayashi of Koloa, Lois (Roy) Hashimoto of Hanapepe and Grace (Robert) Okumura of O‘ahu; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Garden Island Mortuary chapel. Service to begin at 3 p.m.
Casual attire is suggested. In lieu of koden, donations may be made to Kaua‘i Care Center.

Ismael Garcia
Ismael L. Garcia of Kapa‘a died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on March 10, 2010 at age 96. Born in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on March 22, 1913, he was a loader with Lihu‘e Plantation Company.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Angela Garcia; son, Francisco Garcia; grandson, Ronald Garcia; parents, Silvano and Francisca Garcia; sisters, Vicenta Garcia, Felicidad Calpito, Felipa Soller, Tomasa Garcia; and son-in-law, Manuel Manguchei Jr.
He is survived by his son, Prudencio (Edita) Garcia of Puhi; daughters, Mary Manguchei of Kapa‘a, Pat (Marcos) Aguda of Las Vegas, Ellen (Joseph) Rosa of Lihu‘e; daughter-in-law, Victoria Garcia of Hanama‘ulu; grandchildren, Florante Garcia, Susan Garcia, Dennis (Marie Rose) Garcia, Janice (Erin) Zoll, Albert Garcia, Erick Manguchei, Orlando Manguchei, Jeff (Melisa) Garcia, Zelda (Buddy) Viernes, Bernadette Garcia, Leilani (Brett) Penny, Shelly (Christopher) Marquez, Mark Patrick (Miriam) Aguda; 26 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Church and Mass 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Garcia family with arrangements.
