A charity Poker Run hosted by Kaua‘i Harley-Davidson Saturday will benefit a Kaua‘i veteran homeowner.
“Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity received seed money from Lowe’s Building Centers to start a new Repair and Renovation program,” said Anne Dimrock, Development Director for Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity, in a Kaua‘i Harley-Davidson release. “Habitat will perform repair and renovation work on deteriorating housing using its familiar self-help model. Kaua‘i motorcycle, classic car and bicycle riders are encouraged to join this Poker Run to support this effort.”
Net proceeds from the Poker Run will be used to support Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity’s repair and renovation work for a needy veteran homeowner on Kaua‘i. The proceeds will be used to acquire building materials for one repair and renovation project for a Kaua‘i veteran.
During the Poker Run, one of the stops will be at the ReStore thrift shop at the Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity’s facilities in Hanapepe where riders can learn more about this new project as well as other work being done by Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity in the community.
Registration for the Poker Run will start at 9 a.m. at the Kaua‘i Harley-Davidson in Puhi.
The Poker Run will offer riders and drivers the opportunity to set their own pace to visit four locations around the West side of the island. Donation is $10 per rider.
Ride-out will start at 10 a.m. with a return to Puhi scheduled for 1 p.m. where music, light pupu and prizes will be available.
“We are extremely proud and excited to partner with Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity on this event,” said J.C. Crouch, the Kaua‘i Harley-Davidson store manager. “It will be a great opportunity to launch this statewide program from Lowe’s Building Centers and help a Kaua‘i veteran homeowner with much-needed funds.”
