LIHU‘E — Kapa‘a senior Anya Littlefield routinely finished first in the pool and now she’s receiving accolades for it.
Littlefield was named in four separate events in the release of the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation’s 2012 Swimming All-Stars, announced earlier this week.
Littlefield, a member of the KIF champions Kapa‘a Warrior girls team, was named to the Girls 200 Medley Relay team with her Kapa‘a teammates Lana Vali, Tambrina Fairbanks and Maluhia Stark-Kinimaka. Littlefield also was named the all-star in the Girls 200 Yard Freestyle and the Girls 500 Yard Freestyle, as well as her team of Vali, Kiana Fores and Stark-Kinimaka earning the nod for the Girls 200 Yard Freestyle relay.
Kapa‘a freshman Bryson Baligad was impressive on the boys’ side. Baligad was named the Boys 100 Yard Butterfly all-star as well as earning recognition for the Boys 200 Yard IM. Baligad made it a trifecta when the Warrior boys, comprised of Baligad, Kaz Tasic, Rico Joel and Luan Becerra, were named the all-stars in the Boys 200 Yard Medley Relay.
Kaua‘i’s freshman girls duo of Yasmine Ware and Kate Machorek combined to win five all-star slots.Ware, the freshman phenom who shattered KIF records throughout the season, was named as the all-star in the Girls 50 Yard Freestyle and the Girls 100 Yard Breastroke. She also teamed up with Sophie Britzmann, Kaitlin Santos and Ellie Valentino to take the Girls 400 Yard Freestyle Relay for the Red Raider Wahine.
Machorek was named an all-star in the Girls 100 Yard Backstroke as well as the Girls 200 Yard IM.
Waimea senior Matt Holzman finished the season with two all-star nods in the Boys 50 Yard Freestyle and the Boys 100 Yard Backstroke.
Other winners included Quinn Hannah-White in the Boys 200 and 500 Yard Freestyles, Britzmann in the Girls 100 Yard Butterfly, Santos in the Girls 100 Yard Freestyle, Tyler Keith in the Boys 100 Yard Freestyle and Tasic in the Boys 100 Yard Breaststroke.
The Island School boys team of James Papa, Hannah-White, Makalii Pratt and Keith took home the all-star award for the Boys 400 Yard Freestyle Relay as well as the Boys 200 Yard Freestyle Relay.
