Imaikalani Emma Bertelmann
Imaikalani Emma Bertelmann, 76, of Lihu‘e, originally from Nanakuli, O‘ahu, passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Feb. 1, 2024. She was born in Honolulu, O‘ahu, on Dec. 21, 1947, and retired as hotel management.
Preceded in death by her parents James and Miriam Apana, husband Cashman Bertelmann, brothers James “Butchie” Apana, Peter Mahoe, grandson Michael Tangaro and brother-in-law Jerome Brown.
She is survived by her sons David (Margaret) Tabali, James (Gina) Tabali, Peter (Janel) Tabali, eight grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, sisters Kaipo Brown, Manu Kikila, Nakoo Apana, Pililua Oki, Kalau Payne, brothers Douglas Mahoe, Morris Apana, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Nanakuli Beach Park on O‘ahu beginning at 10 a.m.

Duane T. Souza
Duane T. Souza, 78, of Kapa‘a, passed away at Garden Isle Health Care on Jan. 17, 2024. He was born in Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i, on Oct. 26, 1945, and retired from Kaua‘i Police Department as a police officer.
He is survived by his wife Moana Souza, daughters Marlo (Reno) Alaipalelei, Tiana (Shane) Enos, Halia (Kyson) Souza, 3 grandchildren Kamalu (Rain) Umu, Nalani Umu, Naleiaala Enos, 5 great-grandchildren Tewai, Tytus, Lion, Hina, Luna, brothers Maurice (Carola) Souza of O‘ahu, Gareth (Wendy) Souza of Kapa‘a, sisters Maureen Bloom of California, Wilma (Richard) Boudreau of O‘ahu, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents William and Virginia Souza, brother William Leo Souza and sister Duanne W. Torres.
Services will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at St. Catherine Church in Kapa‘a with visitation from 8:30 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Family graciously declines flowers and requests Aloha attire.

Warren Hamai
Warren Hamai, of Kalaheo, passed away on March 29, 2024, at the age of 79. He was born on June 6, 1944, in Paia, Maui. He worked as an electrical technician at PMRF and was a veteran of the US Army.
He was preceded in death by wife Jade Ann Hamai, brother Marvin Hamai and parents Frank and Yoshino Hamai.
He is survived by sons Justin Hamai of Kalaheo, Jarret Hamai of Las Vegas, brother Dwight (Donna) Hamai of Honolulu, sister Cheryl Hamai of Honolulu, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services will be held.
Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Michael Wayne Kiyabu
Michael Wayne Kiyabu, 76, passed away on Nov. 29, 2023, in Kapa‘a. He was born on May 9, 1947, in Hawai‘i. He was in the U.S. Navy and a retired Kaua‘i Police Officer.
He was preceded in death by mother Hatsuko Kiyabu, aunts Rita S. Kiyabu and Theresa Braun.
He is survived by wife Lori R. Kiyabu, son Michael K.G. Kiyabu (Michael Haritos), daughters Lori G.K. (Glen) Balisacan and Kristy Sasachika (Chance Kinney), stepdaughter Liana (Randall) Koerte, sister Teri Kaluahine, brothers Larry Fernandez and Eddie Fernandez, grandchildren Norven Balisacan, Kingston Kinney, Roman Kinney, Royal Kinney and Kannon Kinney, beloved pets Orion, Kitty and Tang, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 13, at Kauai Veterans Center in Lihue. Visitation starts at 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Lunch provided at 11 a.m. The family requests that you wear NFL attire to support your favorite NFL team.
