Miss Latina Hawai‘i Cecilia Turcios was one of the patrons who got to sample the Asian fusion menu of the Kaua‘i High School culinary class (they planned for at least 1,000 meals!) that combined their talent with the school’s hospitality class to host the first-ever Taste of Kaua‘i High on Friday evening, where Robert Green of the school’s graphic design technology class had some of the class’s laser tech items available (the Alpha Delta Kappa cookbook with local recipes makes great holiday gifts!), and Morgan Lopez (yep, Pele Jele was available, too!) and the Kaua‘i Lions Club were volunteering. Kudos, all, on a great effort at showing what can be done in the Lihu‘e school’s west courtyard!

Meanwhile, Future Farmers of America Teacher Christina Martiney and her students (they’re getting excited to see the fruits of their labor starting to pay off while volunteering with the Kaua‘i Landscape Industry Council Arbor Day giveaway) are waiting for the days to get shorter and the temperatures to start becoming crispy so they can start “harvesting” this year’s crop of poinsettia. Watch for them!
Kudos, Chris “Angus” Sweitzer of Wildwood Studios, on finding those “veins of gold” to create the “Kaua‘i Plantation Life” film that everyone enjoyed on Saturday night (Harold and Paula Rosa even had time to ride with the Sons of Kaua‘i in the Kaua‘i Veterans Council Veterans Day parade) at the Grove Farm Museum movie in the park, where Eric Nordmeier of the West Kaua‘i Business and Professional Association was helping with traffic control.
Laurie Yoshida didn’t realize she had enough power to stop all those motorists on Rice Street before the parade.
So, how many more people are going to be like Jean Souza of Kaua‘i Ocean Discovery in Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e and change their lights to green for veterans before Friday?
