MANA — Gabby Saiki, piloting her ‘95 Honda Civic, took the NAPA Ladies Night Challenge on the first of two night races over the Labor Day Drag Races presented by the Garden Isle Racing Association at Kaua‘i Raceway Park in Mana.
Saiki, who later shared the ‘95 pocket rocket with Keoki Saiki, who finished runner up in Pro ET racing on the second day of racing, took the NAPA challenge after Ciera Okamoto, piloting a ‘05 Toyota, broke out in the finals run.
Alma Koetje, finishing third in the NAPA challenge, went on to top the Muscle V8 class during Saturday night racing.
Garden Isle Racing Association officials announced that there are two more races for the 2022 racing season, one taking place Oct. 1, and the second year-end race taking place Nov. 12, the day following Veterans Day, at Kaua‘i Raceway Park.
Officials noted the two remaining races will be day races due to the endangered seabird fledging season kicking in Sept. 15 and lasting through Dec. 15. GIRA officials also took this opportunity to remind the public that no animals are allowed at the Kaua‘i Raceway Park track.
