LIHU‘E — Hokuala Kaua‘i inaugurated its Hokuala Kaua‘i Scholarship Program by awarding five students each with $1,000 awards to help the students with their respective college undergraduate pursuits.
“Everyone at Hokuala Kaua‘i extends our best wishes to these fine young men and women in their pursuit of a higher education,” said Operations Director Carrie Bligh.
“We would like to thank all of the students who applied for a scholarship during this inaugural program, and congratulations to those who were selected this year. We are proud to honor these remarkable young adults, and feel confident they will continue to excel in their academic endeavors.”
Francesca Bivens, graduating from Island School, will be heading to Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn.
Joseph Sams, a graduate of Waimea High School, earned an award for help when he goes to Simpson College in Iowa.
Kirra Carvalho, walking with the Kaua‘i High School Class of 2022, will use her award when she attends Chaminade University in Honolulu.
Jaedin Lagundino, a graduate from Kaua‘i High School, will be using his assistance when he starts at Washington State University, and Kapa‘a High School graduate Nicolas Uribe will be tapping his scholarship award when he starts at Kaua‘i Community College in the fall semester.
The inaugural Hokuala Kaua‘i Scholarship Program was established to return goodwill to the communities on the island.
