Laura Ipo Motu‘apuaka
Laura Ipo Motu‘apuaka passed away on May 24, 2022, at the age of 69, in Las Vegas. She was born on Feb. 12, 1953, in Lihu‘e.
She was preceded in death by parents Priscilla Kaipoleimanu Alencastre (nee Schumacher) and retired Col. Melvin Alencastre of Lihu‘e and Honolulu, brother Timothy Alencastre of Volcano, Hawai‘i Island, and husband Inoke Tualau Motu‘apuaka of Te’ekiu, Tonga.
She is survived by daughters Kaipolemanu (Leo) Episom, Mounu (John) Nakayama, Makalapua (Tevita) Lose, Makeleta (Fa’auo) Faga and Lucia-Sosefina (Ariel) Motu’apuaka, son Alaipulotu (Kuongafo’ou) Motu’apuaka, grandchildren Kaipoleimanu LienKapi, Hola Rosalia, Isaia Molofaha, Laura Marcellina, Alyana Amaro, Melvin Tosiwo, Priscilla Ulukilupetea, AJ Amaro, John Masao, Grace Nofoivaimaofanua and Sosefina Lyn, sister Makalapua Alencastre and brother Melvin Alencastre.
A celebration of life is Friday, June 3, at The Gardens Park in Summerlin, Las Vegas, from 4 to 8 p.m. The family requests aloha attire.
Maxie Moreno
Maxie Moreno passed away on April 22, 2022, at the age of 89, in Kekaha, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 23, 1932 in Kekaha. He was a heavy equipment operator for Kekaha Sugar Co. and also maintenance for Hale Kupuna Heritage Home in ‘Oma‘o.
He was preceded in death by father Tomas Moreno, mother Shandra Hernandez, brother and sister-in-law Raymond and Linda Moreno, sister and brother-in-law Josephine (Sefa) and Daniel Dela Torre, brothers-in-law Benjamin Domingo Sr. and Dickie Dela Cruz, great-granddaughter Zaylyn Rose Aranio, grandson-in-law Peyton Siliado II, father-in-law Juan Domingo, stepmother-in-law Elena Domingo, mother-in-law Enicia Garcia, stepfather-in-law Julia Garcia, and sisters-in-law Cristabel Garma, Cheryl Garma and Angie Dela Cruz.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 ½ years Florentina Moreno, sons Thomas (Lisa) Moreno Sr. of Kekaha and Maxie (Dolly Chang) Moreno of Kapa‘a, daughters Myra (Felix) Torres of Hanapepe and Gina (Benjie) Aranio of ‘Oma‘o, 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service is Saturday, June 18, at Garden Island Mortuary, with visitation from 9 to 11 a.m. and services at 11 a.m. The family requests casual attire.

Randy Michael Wong
Randy Michael Wong of Honolulu passed away on March 20, 2022, at the age of 61. He was born on Dec. 4, 1960. He was a retired journeyman roofer, an avid University of Hawai‘i sports fan and a true Kapa‘a High School Warrior.
He is survived by his lifelong partner Deborah Tada of O‘ahu, daughter Roslyn (Preston) Carvalho of Pearl City, O‘ahu, grandchild Charis Carvalho, mother Juliet Garcia, father Clifford (Lani) Wong of Anahola, sisters Holly Zahn and Buffy Tabayoyon, and numerous uncles, aunties, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life is Saturday, June 11, at St. Catherine Church in Kapa‘a. Visitation is from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. followed by Mass at 10 a.m.

Federico ‘Rico’ Gampon
Federico “Rico” Gampon passed away at his home on May 21, 2022. He was born on Sept. 18, 1927 in Kukui‘ula. He was the owner of Rico’s Electric.
He was preceded in death by father Miguel Bueno Gampon, mother Ambrocia Balmores Marquez, brothers Euphemiano, Alfredo and Frank Gampon, and sister Gloria Gampon.
He is survived by wife Tsuruko Henna Gampon, daughters Gwen Gampon and Cynthia (Ernest) Jimenez, sons Ricky (Sandy) Gampon, Drake (Kay) Gampon, Cornel Gampon, Don Gampon and Douglas Gampon, brothers Benjamin Gampon and Jose (Annie) Gampon, sister Josephine Marie Gampon, 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
A private celebration of life will be held.

Earl D. Hunter
Earl D. Hunter passed away on April 5, 2022, at the age of 76, at Wilcox Medical Center. He was born on Sept. 30, 1945 in Honolulu. He was an architect with over 28 years experience in construction project management.
During the Vietnam War, he was a construction officer for the U.S. Navy Seabees in Danang, Vietnam, Morocco and Puerto Rico. He was also an architect for the state Department of Accounting and General Services Design, Construction Branch, and Hawai‘i Community Development Authority as a construction manager. He also worked for other contractors before starting his own business in 1999.
He was preceded in death by wife Patricia Hunter, father Earl Hunter Sr. and mother Ichiko Hunter.
He is survived by his fiancée DeAnna Starinieri, son Scot (Maxine) Hunter of Long Beach, California, brother Carl “Bo” Hunter of O‘ahu, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service is Saturday, June 4, at 10:30 a.m. at the Kaua‘i Veterans Center. The Lions Club will be honoring him with a presentation for service. The family suggests donations can be made to District 50 Lions Club Foundation and/or Wilcox Medical Center Foundation. The family suggests casual attire and welcomes flowers.
