Teodora Orille Claro
Teodora Orille Claro, 88, of Lihu‘e, passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital, on May 22, 2022. She was born on Aug. 3, 1933, in Tayug, Pangasinan, Philippines and was a dedicated homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband Antonio Claro Sr.
Teodora is survived by her children Jesus Claro, Antonio Claro Jr., Belen Claro (Rolando) Castulo, Joel (Julie) Claro, Monjea (Jerry Monje) Claro, Julito (Malou) Claro, Marcial Claro, Josephine (Joshua) Nager, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, sisters Rosalina Sally Jerico Jordan, Lina Franco, numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Immaculate Conception Church. Viewing begins at 9 a.m. followed by Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Rowena Poliolehua Kekahu Smith
Rowena Poliolehua Kekahu Smith passed away on May 10, 2022, at the age of 74, at her residence. She was born on Oct. 24, 1947, in Waimea, Kaua‘i. She was a retired certified nurse’s aide at Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her father John Kaaupuiki Kekahu, Jr., mother Rebecca Mikala Koani, husband Henry Smith, brothers John “Butch” Kaaupuiki Kekahu, III, Jonathan Kawika Kekahu, and daughter Katie Ilima Lotu Kinney.
Rowena is survived by her sister Rhoda Kawaipiilani Simeona, son Jay Kawika Fatu (Hazel) Lotu, daughter Robin Tupea Lehua (Kimo) Lotu, six grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
A service will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at the Garden Island Mortuary. Visitation is at 9 to 10 a.m., followed by service at 10 a.m.
Garden Island Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.
