HA‘ENA — The state Department of Transporation has announced a right-lane closure on Kuhio Highway that is possible in either direction between mile markers 0 and 10, Ka Haku Road and Ha‘ena State Park, Monday through Friday, March 7 to 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for grass-cutting and tree-trimming.
All road work, whether county- or state-directed, is weather permitting.
Kilauea
• A single-lane closure on Kuhio Highway in both directions between mile markers 19 and 21.6, Kapuna Road and Wailapa Road, takes place from this evening through Friday morning, March 11, from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., for road-reconstruction and resurfacing;
Kapa‘a
• Portions of Mailihuna Road will be closed from Monday through Friday, March 7 to 11, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., according to the county’s Department of Public Works and Grace Pacific LLC. Additionally, the makai driveway to Kapaʻa High School’s office will be closed until March 21. The periodic, one-lane closures on Mailihuna road are necessary for sidewalk construction, driveway construction and roadway excavation. • A right-shoulder closure and narrowed lanes of Kuhio Highway in the southbound direction between mile markers 5.7 and 6.7, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and the Kapaa bypass road, takes place Monday through Friday, March 7 to 11, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for road and shoulder work;
Lihu‘e
• A right-lane closure of Kuhio Highway in both directions between mile markers 2 and 6, Hanama‘ulu Road and Kuamo‘o Road, takes place Monday through Friday, March 7 to 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for grass-cutting and tree-trimming;
• A right-lane closure of Kuhio Highway in both directions between mile markers 0.8 and 1.7, Maona Road and Laukona Street, takes place Monday through Friday, March 7 to 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for grass-cutting and tree-trimming;
Lawa‘i
• A right-lane closure of Kaumuali‘i Highway in both directions between mile markers 8.6 and 9.3, Maha Road and Upa Road, takes place Monday through Wednesday, March 7 to 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., for grass-cutting and tree-trimming;
• A right-lane closure of Kaumuali‘i Highway in the westbound direction between mile markers 9.4 and 10.4, Piko Road and Koloa Road, takes place Thursday and Friday, March 10 and 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., for tree-trimming;
Koloa
• Ala Kalanikaumaka, from Ala Kukui‘ula to the Po‘ipu roundabout, is closed now through Friday, March 11, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for road-resurfacing work, according to DPW and its contractor Maui Kupuno Builders. Motorists heading southbound from the Koloa roundabout will be detoured to Lopaka Paipa Boulevard and Po‘ipu Road. Residents and visitors accessing Kukui‘ula from Po‘ipu will be detoured around the closure to Lopaka Paipa Boulevard and Ala Kukui‘ula. Motorists wishing to travel northbound from the Po‘ipu roundabout to Koloa Road should take Po‘ipu Road or use alternate routes.
