LAWA‘I — Kaua‘i police responded to a report of a single vehicle traffic crash early Monday morning on Piko Road in the vicinity of the Konishi Road intersection in Lawa‘i. The crash resulted in the fatality of a 20-year-old Lawa‘i man.
LAWA‘I — Kaua‘i police responded to a report of a single vehicle traffic crash early Monday morning on Piko Road in the vicinity of the Konishi Road intersection in Lawa‘i. The crash resulted in the fatality of a 20-year-old Lawa‘i man.
According to a preliminary report, the man was operating a 2004 silver Toyota pickup truck and was heading westbound around 11:55 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road, crossed the centerline onto the eastbound shoulder and crashed.
Speed appears to be a contributing factor in the crash and toxicology results are pending to determine if alcohol and/or drugs were also involved.
Piko Road was closed for approximately four hours.
The name of the driver has not yet been released.
This is Kaua‘i’s fourth traffic fatality of 2020.
