Rev. Dr. Alan Akana hosts slideshow of sabbatical

    Dr. Douglas Duvachelle accepts a book on Rev. Dr. Alan Akana’s sabbatical to Europe during the Open and Affirming celebration at the Koloa Union Church.

KOLOA — When Rev. Dr. Alan Akana officiated over the Open and Affirming celebration Sunday, he had just returned from a three-month sabbatical to Europe.

One of the results of that trip where Akana focused on “Beauty, Art, and Spirituality” was the production of a book that Akana presented to Koloa Union Church containing photos and notes of the trip.

Akana will be giving a talk and slideshow about his sabbatical at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Smith Memorial Parsonage. The public is welcome.

Copies of the book will be available for purchase.
