People (even Chef Sam Choy came in for the busy weekend!) were out in force as the four girl Cub Scouts — Isabel Tumpap, Ashlei Thompson (was dad officiating or working?), Summer Cope and Grace Lopez — from Pack 148 were part of the Kauai United Way Walk-a-thon (Charlie Okamoto said Nellie’s birthday was Friday!).

Lyle Tabata had multiple hats (Easter Seals Early Intervention Director Dhao Tu had a costume for that, too, at their Halloween party for clients Friday) on as he represented Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. who was busy at the Men’s Conference (Council Chair Mel Rapozo was trying to juggle the walk, the opening of youth baseball, and a funeral, too!).
It’s a good thing Randy Yokoyama has a loud voice because he could broadcast the free pumpkins at the Kauai Community Market at Kauai Community College Saturday. Sandi Kato Klutke said she had too many pumpkin giveaways so wasn’t going to make the Visitor Industry Charity Walk bowling because she took in the Aqua Kauai Beach Resort Spaghetti in the Pumpkin Patch (the humuhumunukunukuapuaa from France was hilarious, and Dr. Carl and Anna Yu had a “preview” of the Wilcox Heath Halloween parade that takes place Wednesday from 11:30 a.m.) Friday night with Nia Klutke and Mark Isoshima).
Justin Stonner of Uncle D’s celebrated the “soft opening” of his new foodie wagon (Greg Askew got the second pulled pork sandwich!) at the Kauai Community Market, and is using this time to develop his “full menu,” which will be announced ahead of the grand opening in a few weeks.
