Cheyenne St. John said she’ll be back, Sunday to see what’s left at the Lihue Public Library’s summer used book sale, Friday where she found “about a month’s supply” of reading material. The sale continues from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with lots of last-day bargains.

Polly Mullen of New Mexico is excited to be at the Nawiliwili Yacht Club’s shoreline series race with Sharon Gibson, Thursday after arriving on Kauai.

Polly Mullen was thoroughly excited (and frustrated that her camera battery went kaput) following her trip from New Mexico via Mississippi and Memphis, Tenn., Thursday. She never expected to come straight to Nawiliwili Harbor for the Nawiliwili Yacht Club Junior (those Weatherly juniors looked sharp in the Swedish life vests) Invitational Series races where she got to meet townies Sharon and Doug Gibson (they can see everything from their new home). Polly is here house-sitting so has a lot of time checking out the Kauai sights, including the Lihue Hongwanji bon dance and the flying saucers … keep those batteries charged!
