HANALEI — Kuhio Highway in the vicinity of the Hanalei Bridge was closed Sunday around 5 p.m. due to a flash flood warning for the island of Kauai.
Heavy rains had been occurring over the island all day, according to the National Weather Service, and triggered several weather alerts.
There were reports of flooding and water ponding on roadways from around the island.
