POIPU — The Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa kicked in $20,000 toward the Kauai United Way campaign Monday.
“The campaign, co-chaired by Peter Wiederoder and Shannon Maxwell, is winding down,” said Lynette Medrano-Stine, KUW campaign development director and community liaison. “We’re accepting contributions all the way through, but we’d like to have everything in by the end of the month.”
Funds from the Hyatt presentation stemmed from fundraising events by the resort staff.
“These included silent auctions, box-lunch sales for the staff, and my favorite — Jeans Day — where we pay $5 a day to wear jeans on a specific day of the week,” said Diann Hartman, Hyatt’s director of marketing communications.
The Kauai United Way 2017 campaign goal is $650,000, and not counting the Hyatt contribution, donations to date are more than $400,000.
