Scouts show off skills

PUHI — Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts from all around Kauai converged at the Kauai Community College Saturday for the annual Makahiki.

The event brings the island’s estimated 700 Scouts together for a day of competition, including the Pinewood Derby.

The troops presented a variety of projects including the popular rope suspension bridge, paintball, field cooking, ice cream making and other Scouting skills.

Devi Berg, a Scouting coordinator, said the next item on the Scouting calendar is the islandwide camp in Kokee, a weeklong wilderness experience.
