Lavena Lynn Witcher
Lavena Lynn Witcher of Puhi passed away at Garden Isle Health Care on July 18, 2016, at the age of 60. She was born in Arkansas on Aug. 13, 1955, a veteran of the United States Army and retired as a waitress.
Preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Jewell Benson; sisters, Anna Faye Rikard, Melba Johnson and Glenda Hamilton.
Lavena is survived by her companion, Faith Ellamar of Puhi; son, Bobby Joe (Jennifer) Witcher of Arkansas; step-son, Tedlee Ellamar of Puhi; four grandchildren, Austin Lee Witcher, Gunner Dean Witcher, Madalynn Marie Witcher, Baylee Kylnne all of Paragould, Arkansas; sister, Wanda Rowland; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services were held.
Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Witcher family with arrangements.
Jenichi ‘Shige’ Shigematsu
Jenichi “Shige” Shigematsu of Koloa passed away on July 18, 2016, at the Garden Island Health Care at the age of 95.
Born on April 20, 1921, in Koloa, Kauai he was a retired supervisor with Grove Farm and McBryde Sugar Plantation.
Preceded in death by his parents, Zensaku and Shika (Hara) Shigematsu; wife, Patsy M. “Higa” Shigematsu; grandson, Keili Nigel Shigematsu.
Survived by sons, Dayne and Valerie (Pablo) Shigematsu, Mitchell and Terry “Miller” Shigematsu, Ryan and Wendy “Yoshishige” Shigematsu, Cleve and Gail “Makaneole” Shigematsu, Kent and Joni “Martin” Shigematsu; daughters, Mona and Clay Yamauchi, June and Glenn Allianic; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends may meet with the family on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel.
Visitation at 11 a.m. Service at 12 p.m.
Burial to follow at Kauai Veterans Cemetery, Hanapepe.

Haming S. Lardizabal
Haming S. Lardizabal passed away May 16, 2016, in Lawai at Hale Kupuna Heritage Home at the age 87. She was born Dec. 5, 1928, on Maui.
Haming was the co-owner of Leilani Taxi and Tour Company with her late husband, Mauricio J. Lardizabal.
Survived by six children, Scott Lardizabal, Gloria Reed, Fred (Carol) Tangalin, Yolanda, (Scott) Kurihara, Nena (Late William) Smith, Leroy Tangalin; daugther-in-law, Charlotte Kaai (;ate Steven Tangalin), Karen Tangalin (late Leonard Tangalin); six stepchildren, Maurice (Florence) Lardizabal, Jr., Alfred (Heidi) Lardizabal, Carmen Orpilla, Charlene Avita, Maureen (Zachary) Octavio and Glenn (late Karen) Lardizabal, two sisters, Nina MartinCatherine Madrid, 25 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Celebration of New Life Memorial Service will take place 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at the Niumalu Pavilion on Niumalu Road. Use Google Maps or GPS as there is no physical address — closest landmark Kaiola Canoe Club. The pavilion is right before the canoe club.

Cherise “Risee” Pualeinani Fu Carvalho of Anahola, Kauai, Hawaii passed June 30, 2016 at the age 37.
Born on April 8, 1979, in Lihue, Kauai she was a front desk clerk and night auditor at Courtyard Marriott.
Preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Lono and Frances Fu, paternal grandfather, Ernest Carvalho III.
She is survived by her mother, Lynn Cherise Fu, Anahola; father, Rickey (Anna) Carvalho, Anahola; paternal grandmother, Alice Carvalho, companion, Richard Benedito, Anahola; daughter, Phoenix-Rhychelle, Benedito, Anahola; sister, Cherelle Fu Carvalho, Kapaa and numerous aunties and uncles, cousins, friends.
Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, July 30, 2016, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lihue, with visitation at 9 a.m., Mass at 10 a.m.

James Preston Kaomealani Kahale
James Preston Kaomealani Kahale, age 15, born on Oct. 30, 2000, passed away on July 22, 2016, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Grace Leina’ala Kahale and grandfather, David Enelani Shintani.
Preston is survived by his parents, Jeffrey and Grace Marie Kahale Shintani of Makaweli; hanai brothers, Wilson Napomaikaimailunamai Kanahele (Kalei) Jr. of Anahola, Cooper Niau of Kekaha; hanai sisters, Chelsea Laine (Billy) Niau of Ni’ihau and Cheyenne Frances Kelley Kanahele of Makaweli; grandfather, James Kahale of Makaweli; grandmother, Mercy Shintani of Kekaha and numerous, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, July 29, 2016, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. will services to start at 11. Burial will follow at the Kekaha Hawaiian Cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested and flowers are welcomed.

Miyako Sugano Kure of Koloa, Kauai, passed away on July 17, 2016, at her residence at the age of 99.
She was born on Feb. 5, 1917, in Koloa and she was a manager at the Poipu Beach Hotel gift shop.
Preceded in death by parents, Hitoshi and Tsuneyo Sugano; husband, Takeshi Kureson, Gary Kure; four brothers and 2 sisters.
Survived by daughters, Lois (Dwight) Fujii, Beverly (Larry) Yasuda; sister, Sueko Ishibashi; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, friends.
There will be a private Celebration of Life at Koloa Union Church on July 29, 2016, with visitation at 10:00 a.m. service at 11.

Helen Young passed away on Tuesday, July 19 2016, at KVMH at the age of 91.
She raised 11 children and is survived by nine. Her children are John Howard (Blossom) Young, Lauretta (George) Kaukani, David (Alvina) Young, Jennifer (Robert) Cook, Melvin Young, Mervin (Nancy) Young, Clinton (Dawn) Young, Rodney Young, and Patricia Lei (Bravynn) Drose. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Helen is preceded in death by her eternal companion, John Ham Young and her daughters, Marvel Haunani (Harrom) Kaili and Susan Young.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at the Kalaheo LDS Church. Visitation with family will begin at 10 a.m. with service to follow at 11.

Marlene Ito Daligdig went home to be with Heavenly Father on June 27, 2016, at the age of 67. She was born on June 19, 1949, on Oahu.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Gerald Francis Ito Sr. and Theodore Daligdig Sr.
Marlene is survived by her children, Gerald Francis Ito Jr., Chantell Kaaihue, Raenell (Shane) Shimabukuro, Darnell Ito; seven grandchildren; Amber, Klinton, Ashtyn, Ave Evalei, Zain and Landon; sisters, Deborah Morris, Thyra Abraham, Rose Lee; brother, Danniel Tom Jr., numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Church with visitation from 9 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10. Inurnment will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Satsuki Murakami Matsumura
Satsuki Murakami Matsumura of Lihue passed away at Garden Isle Health Care on July 15, 2016, at the age of 89. She was born in Waimea, Kauai on Jan. 15, 1927, and retired from the State of Hawaii.
Preceded in death by her husband, Yutaka Matsumura; parents, Seitaro Murakami and Kikue Murakami; sisters, Kimiye Kaneshige and Mona Uyehara; brothers, Harold Murakami and Kenneth Murakami.
Satsuki is survived by her children, Rene (Robert) Kansaku, Collis Culbertson and Gordon Matsumura; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service was held on July 26, 2016, at Kauai Memorial Gardens.
Family graciously declines Koden.
