James Preston Kaomealani Kahale, age 15, born on Oct. 30, 2000, passed away on July 22, 2016 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Grace Leina’ala Kahale; and grandfather, David Enelani Shintani.
Preston is survived by his parents, Jeffrey and Grace Marie Kahale Shintani of Makaweli; hanai-brothers, Wilson Napomaikaimailunamai Kanahele (Kalei) Jr. of Anahola, Cooper Niau of Kekaha; hanai-sisters, Chelsea Laine (Billy) Niau of Ni’ihau, and Cheyenne Frances Kelley Kanahele of Makaweli; grandfather, James Kahale of Makaweli; grandmother, Mercy Shintani of Kekaha; and numerous, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, July 29, 2016 at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. will services to start at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at the Kekaha Hawaiian Cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested and flowers are welcomed.

Jenichi “Shige” Shigematsu of Koloa passed away on July 18, 2016 at the Garden Island Health Care at the age of 95.
Born on April 30, 1921 in Koloa, Kauai he was a retired supervisor with Grove Farm and McBryde Sugar Plantation.
Preceded in death by: parents, Zensaku & Shika (Hara) Shigematsu; wife, Patsy M. “Higa” Shigematsu; grandson, Keli’i Nigel Shigematsu.
Survived by sons, Dayne & Valerie (Pablo) Shigematsu, Mitchell & Terry “Miller” Shigematsu, Ryan & Wendy “Yoshishige” Shigematsu, Cleve & Gail “Makaneole” Shigematsu, Kent & Joni “Martin”: Shigematsu; daughters, Mona & Clay Yamauchi, June & Glenn Allianic; 15 grandchildren & 14 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.
Friends may meet with the family on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel.

Helen Young
Helen Young passed away on Tuesday, July 19 2016 at KVMH at the age of 91. She raised 11 children and is survived by 9 They are John Howard (Blossom) Young, Lauretta (George) Kaukani, David (Alvina) Young, Jennifer (Robert) Cook, Melvin Young, Mervin (Nancy) Young, Clinton (Dawn) Young, Rodney Young, and Patricia Lei (Bravynn) Drose. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grand children. Helen is preceded in death by her eternal companion John Ham Young and her daughters Marvel Haunani (Harrom) Kaili and Susan Young.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, July 30 at the Kalaheo LDS Church. Visitation with family will begin at 10 a.m. with service to follow at 11 a.m.
