Walking tall

The Visitor Industry Charity Walk, hosted by the Hawaii Lodging and Tourism Association, Kauai Chapter is a go.

Registration, safety briefings and warm up exercises take place from 6:30 a.m. Saturday at the Historic County Building, and the trump-trump of taiko from the Joyful Noise at 7 a.m. signals the start of the 2.9-mile walk around Lihue.

George Thronas and organizers of the largest fundraising effort gathered at the Kukui Grove Center for a final push for registrants to the entertainment of the Joyful Noise ensemble and the Excel Dance Studio. Proceeds go toward the $250,000 goal.

Kauai’s nonprofits who benefit from the proceeds were also available to talk about their programs and the impact funds from the charity walk has on their offering of services and goods to the people of Kauai.
