Kristi Gibbs, a Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School art teacher, said a shopper from Ireland was so fascinated by the artwork, she missed her bus.
Gibbs was joined by CKMS art teachers Shaun Redd and Rita Salluzzi in presenting the second CKMS student art show (even CKMS principal Debra Badua was impressed and very proud to talk about the students’ achievements!).
Alana Takata had a two-sided fish which she had to show so grandma could get a picture and Team Unified’s Joshua Melchor was helping at the Countdown to Charity Walk, but was proud of the three multi-colored fish he created for the theme of “In the waves of change we find our true direction.”
Kudos to the teachers for being able to set the display in accordance with the theme, and Kristi even brought her dynamic origami butterflies which danced in the wind from an electric fan.
In accordance with the “change” theme, Kristi said she tells the eighth graders about the “morphing” that’s taking place within them as they turn into butterflies.
She even was on duty Mother’s Day with refreshments for moms supplied by Safeway at Hokulei Village.
