Elect people who can solve traffic problems
Action for avoiding traffic congestion in Kapaa seem to be moving at a snail’s pace.
It is interesting to read of the many suggestions put forward by the people of Kauai. Ideas to improve conditions by reducing car rentals, adding more bike paths, will not improve the situation.
Tourists come in pairs and are not going to rent bikes to see the island. No one from Kapaa will ride a bike to work in Lihue if they own wheels. Most families no longer have just have one car. Every member of the household that has a driver’s license owns a car or will own one sooner or later.
The only solution is to widen the roads and have more lanes. The other solution is to replace the officials with younger and better educated people in office.
In short, the answer is up to the people of the island. When it’s time for elections, go out and do the right thing. There is no sense in complaining when no one is listening.

Thank you for showing kindness
First and foremost, I want to thank The Garden Island newspaper, also every Kauaiian and guest, for all the appreciation I hold in my heart. My heart goes out to all of you for your unconditional love, all your kindness, and foremost, all your generosity.
I was shown respect. One can only imagine how awesome “the Ancient Hawaiians” were for their all-around versatility. I am proud to have had that knowledge. I honestly believe it helped make me the person I have become.
The past couple years were in no way anything I could have ever imagined. Honestly, I still can’t, and that’s when I knew my Jesus was there, and I had no more excuses. I really just surrendered. My faith has always been strong. I thought I was, too.
So I wouldn’t change anything, I already know I’m not good at the wheel. But it’s shaping into what I was prayed to be — I’m not perfect, but I’m worth it! I’ve been very blessed to have all the blessed people in my life, you know who you are. I’m better for knowing all of you Kauaiians, Mahalo. This is Kauai’s year to shine bright like a diamond.
