Bobby Kamakele (he’s got Waimea and Kauai supporter shirts!), the coach of Kaulupono girls basketball team, said there is no county youth basketball Monday because of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday.
Instead, the games continue Tuesday at the Island School gym before coming back to the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center Thursday.
Joyce Evens (she was using her cellphone to compete with all the high-tech camera gear between Kevin Matsunaga and Todd Fuertes) said soccer on Tuesday goes to Vidinha Stadium since Island School has something scheduled. But we’ll be at Waimea High School when Kapaa girls basketball travels to the Clem Gomes.
Coach Basilio “Bunga” Fuertes and Gutsy Oyama stopped off for basketball on the way back to Waimea after distributing the last of the free Granex yellow bulb onion seedlings (any red types mixed in the bunches?), and Coach Orlando “O” Anaya had the pool closed because the Mokihana Aquatics swimmers were at the Shanghai Circus (Mindy Hibbitt said the mall was going to be quiet because everyone was going to the circus).
OK, time to go check if the whales have come in, yet (the first Ocean Count is coming up on the last Saturday in January).
