A senior citizen was saved by Capt. Andy’s Sailing crews after he had trouble swimming Monday morning.
The boat had anchored off the coast of Olokele just before 9 a.m. for a snorkeling tour when the man “started splashing around,” said Andy Evans, owner of the sailing company.
“The crew thought it was odd he was flailing around, so they went to check on him,” he said.
The man, who was not identified, was blue when they reached him, Evans added.
The crew took him back to the boat, where they successfully administered CPR.
“We train for this exact sort of thing, and the training worked today,” Evans said.
People having problems swimming doesn’t occur often, he said.
“We try to stop it before it happens,” he said.
