Stanford Haruo Kashima
Stanford Haruo Kashima passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at the age of 74. He was born in Huleia, Kauai.
Stan was beloved by his family and friends. He worked hard at TWA and on his fruit farm in Orosi, California. He loved and was loved by all dogs. He will be greatly missed by missed!
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mutsumi and Dora Kashima, his brother, Edwin Kashima and his sister, Arlene Kashima Kawakami. Stanford is survived by his wife, June (Kano) Kashima, daughter, Terri Lynne Laughlin- Kashima, his son and daughter -in-law, Kevin and Kelly Kashima and grandchildren Sean Laughlin and Kevin Laughlin. “A Private Celebration of Life” will be Saturday, November 14 at 1 p.m. in California.
Asae ‘Grandma’ Hamamura
Asae “Grandma” Hamamura, 100, of Aiea, Oahu passed away on October 28, 2015 at Straub Clinic & Hospital in Honolulu. She was born in Waimea, Kauai on December 3, 1914 and was a retired forelady at Lawai Cannery.
She was preceded in death by husband Masakado Hamamura; son Harry Hamamura; daughter Jean Hangai; brother Satoru Sakamoto; sisters Hamae Matsui, Ethel Nakano and Gladys Hiranaka.
She is survived by sons Ray (Hannah) Hamamura of Aiea and Roy (Kay) Hamamura of Kalaheo, Kauai; daughter-in-law Carol Hamamura of Kalaheo, Kauai and son-in-law Stephen H. Hangai of Aiea; 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21 at Nuuanu Memorial Park & Mortuary on Oahu, service 10 a.m. Private service and inurnment on Kauai at a later date. Casual attire. No flowers.
Corinne Whealy McCabe
Corinne Whealy McCabe of Kilauea, Kaua’i, Hawai’i passed away at home on October 10, 2015 at the age of 89. Born on August 16, 1926 in Spokane, Washington, she was a real estate agent with Oceanfront Realty.
She is survived by her husband Michael McCabe; son Mark Armfield of Malibu, California; daughters, Kristine Randal of Mariposa, California, Juliana Bourget of Seattle, Washington and Lori Padden of Pacific Palisades, California; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A Celebration of Corinne’s life was held on October 25, 2015 when her children gathered privately at the end of Anini Beach to share personal memories and place a memorial lei on the water to carry her spirit out to the sea that she loved.
Corinne generously donated her body to the University of Hawai’I, John A. Burns School of Medicine for medical research.
Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Shinae ‘Betty’ Kashiwabara Miwa
Mrs. Shinae “Betty” Kashiwabara Miwa , age 96, of Hilo, Hawai‘i, died November 2, 2015 in the Hilo Medical Center. Born on May 7, 1919, in Ele‘ele, Kaua‘i, she served as an interpreter for the U.S. military during World War II, was a 6th grade teacher at Salem Hyde Elementary School and Shenendehoah Central School in Upstate New York, worked at KIPA radio station, was an Executive Manager at Nihon Restaurant and Cultural Center, and retired as an educator from the Hawai‘i State Department of Education. She was a member of the Pi‘ihonua Houselots Kumiai, the Pi‘ihonua Houselots Community Association, the Hawai‘i Shima Fukuoka Kenjinkai, Hui Okinawa, and a former member of the Big Island Press Club and the Hilo Gourmet Club.
Visitation will be held at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo on November 19, 2015 (Thursday) from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.; memorial service will begin at 10 a.m. Casual attire is requested. No flowers.
She is survived by daughter, Amy (Conrad Hokama) Miwa of Hilo; several nieces and nephews; and an extended ‘ohana throughout Hawai‘i, and in the mainland, Japan, Ireland, and South America.

Dominador ‘Dado’ S. Tomacder
Dominador “Dado” S. Tomacder of Wailua Houselots , Kauai, Hawaii passed away on November 6, 2015 at the age of 88.
Born on July 14, 1927 in Hanamaulu, Kauai, he was a auto mechanic for Garden Island Motors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andres & Victoria Tomacder; wife, Augustina “Tina” Tomacder; sisters, Fausta Tomacder, Remy Aquino, Maria Amorin and brother, Ricky Tumacder.
He is survived by his sons, Stan (Elizabeth) Tomacder, Waimea, Sandy (Gloria F.) Tomacder, Wailua Houselots; daughter, Sally Ann Torres, Kapaa; sisters, Trinidad Fernandez, Hanamaulu and Priscilla (Oseng) Miguel, Honolulu, 6 grandchildren & 3 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, friends. Friends may meet with family on Tuesday November 24, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lihue. Visitation at 9 a.m. Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens, Kapaia. Family suggests casual attire.
