KILAUEA — The Department of Water has scheduled a 10-hour water shutdown for the entire Kilauea area from 6 p.m. Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday.
Water will be turned off to allow the DOW’s contractor, Earthworks Pacific Inc., to connect a new water main which will provide water system improvements to the Kilauea Elementary School area.
Customers from Kahili Makai Street to Kalihiwai Road, will have no water service during the shutdown.
There may be low water pressure or intermittent water outages for nearby Waipake residents from Kahili Makai Street to Kapuna Road, and Kalihiwai residents on Kahiliholo Road.
Those with low water pressure should conserve water until the shutdown is completed. Water conservation measures include using water only for drinking and sanitation purposes, and turning off any automatic sprinklers and outdoor irrigation systems.
DOW will provide water buffaloes for essential water needs at the Kilauea Neighborhood Center during this scheduled shutdown. Customers will need to bring their own containers.
