Women anglers are invited to join the fourth Annual Wahine O Ke Kai fishing tournament hosted by the Garden Island Trollers on Sept. 12.
Registration for teams with at least one female and one person a member of the G.I. Trollers must be received by 5 p.m. Sept. 10.
A mandatory captain’s meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 11 at the Kapaa Small Boat Harbor.
Fishing starts with a shotgun start at 6 a.m. following check-in from 4 to 5:30 a.m. Teams stop fishing at 3:30 p.m. and all catches must be weighed in by the close of the weigh station at 4:30 p.m.
Fish categories include the Largest Qualifying Fish, Marlin, minimum size 15 pounds, Yellow Fin Tuna, Ono, minimum size 5 pounds, Mahimahi, minimum size 5 pounds, and Others, minimum size 5 pounds.
Prizes will be awarded to first and second place in all categories with the exception of Largest Qualifying Fish, and Others.
All fish caught must be called in via VHF radio, channel 68, or by cellphone. In the event of a tie, the first fish reported in will be declared the winner of the tie breaker.
