Silverio Pegeder Sr.
Silverio Ancheta Pegeder Sr. of Hanamaulu passed away on August 21, 2014 at the age of 90. He was born on July 19, 1924 in Nalvo, Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur, Philippines and retired as a Civil engineer for Lihue Plantation.
He is preceded in death by his wife Anastacia Ganio Pegeder.
He is survived by his grandson and caregiver Donovan Pegeder, 5 children, 11 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Church in Kapaia with visitation from 8:00 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10:00 a.m. officiated by Fr. Jerry Somera. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens, Casual attire is suggested.

Juan Valenciano
Juan Valenciano of Hanapepe, Kauai, Passed away on August 17, 2014 at the age of 95 at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital. Born on May 16, 1919 in the Philippines, He was a Retired Laborer from the Olokele Sugar Plantation.
Preceded in death by his brothers, Mariano Valenciano, Placido Valenciano Sr.
He is survived by his wife: Presentacion Ramos Valenciano, 7 Sons: Nerio (Terry) Valenciano, Danilo (Ofelia) Tutop, Sr., Romeo (Lelani) Valenciano, Edgar (Leilanie) Valenciano, Elmer (Aida) Valenciano, Cesar (Phealyn) Valenciano, Arnel (Jocelyn) Valenciano; 1 Sister: Virginia Ballesteros, 14 Grandchildren, 15 Great grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday August 30, 2014 at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 9:00 am to 10:45 am. Where services will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Burial to follow at Hanapepe Public Cemetery.

Elizabeth Punohu
Elizabeth Kananiokahome Punohu “Queenie”, of Lihue, passed away at the age of 79. She retired from the Kaua’i Westin, which is now called the Kaua’i Marriott Resort.
She is survived by her son, Clayton Jay Punohu of Lihu’e, Kaua’i, her sisters Gloria Sui-Fukumitsu of Ewa, O’ahu, Jeanette Mendonca of Lihu’e, Kaua’i, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Lihue Jesus Christ of Latter Saints Church from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 30th. Private burial service at a later date.
Landrino Aguinaldo
Landrino Butac Aguinaldo of Kilauea, Kauai, Hawaii, passed away on August 20, 2014 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 60. Born on August 3, 1954 in Lanao Bangui Ilocos Norte, Philippines. He was a landscaper.
He is survived by his wife, Lily Aguinaldo; sons, Aaron (Maricel) Aguinaldo, Walter (Ashley) Aguinaldo, Elvis Aguinaldo, Jeff Aguinaldo, grandson Noah. Siblings, Pastor (Naty) Aguinaldo, Ernesto (Belen) Aguinaldo, Wilson (Hermina) Aguinaldo, Weslie (Lilibeth) Aguinaldo, Glorina Aguinaldo, Rosnelie (Casimiro) Rumbaoa, Lucrecia (Jerrold) Sagucio, Nora Montero, Marlene (Danny) Jarquio, Rowena Aguinaldo, numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, September 6, 2014 with visitation from 8:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. and mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Sylvester’s Catholic Church, Kilauea. Burial to follow at Saint Catherine’s Catholic Cemetery. Luncheon to follow at St. Catherine’s Hall.

Anton Irek
Anton “Tony” Irek of Wailua House Lots passed away in Hale Nani Rehabilitation Center on Oahu on August 19, 2014, at the age of 83. He was born in Croatia on July 15, 1931, and was a self employed piano teacher.
He is survived by his wife, Tomasa “Tita” Irek, three daughters, Shirley Irek, Elizabeth Tholberg, Julia Kearney; one son, Anthony Irek; 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Branko and Ivica; one sister, Ruzica, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, August 29, 2014, at St. Catherine Church with viewing from 8:30 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Kealia Cemetery.

Thomas Patrick Sakae Hanalani Leines of Kapaa passed away at Kapiolani Medical Center on August 11, 2014. He was born in Honolulu on July 30, 2014.
He is survived by his parents, Joshua and Jennifer Leines of Kapaa; brother, Gavin Leines; paternal grandmother, Mary Leines of Minnesota; maternal grandmother, Sharon Contrades of Kapaa; maternal grandparents, Deacon Thomas and Jackie Contrades of Wailua Homesteads; maternal great-grandmother, Alice Hatakeyama of Kapaa; numerous aunties, uncles and cousins.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2014, at St. Raphael’s Church with visitation from 8:00 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow.

Yvonne Pacheco
Yvonne Marie Pacheco of Lihue passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on August 18, 2014, at the age of 72. She was born in Lihue, Kauai on April 20, 1942, and was a dedicated homemaker.
She is survived by one son, Jon (Jaselyn) Garcia Sr., of Kapaa; two daughters, Brenda Garcia Gusman of Maui, Christine R. Garcia of Lihue; two sisters, Eleanor Bonner and Linda Baptiste (Sandy Ching), both of Oahu; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services were held.

John McCoy, Jr.
John Phillip McCoy, Jr., age 49 of Kapaa, Kauai died on Sunday, August 17, 2014 of accidental drowning in the ocean in Lihue, Kauai. Born September 9, 1964,in Florence, South Carolina. Phillip was a Christian, a home health care worker and attended Kauai Community College.
Preceded in death by grandparents Harry M. and Sudie M. McElveen, H. Eugene and Estelle V. McCoy of South Carolina.
He is survived by his mother Lyla J. McElveen of Myrtle Beach, SC, father John P. and Barbara H. McCoy of Greenville, North Carolina, sister Allyson M. and Tony Hirsh of Myrtle Beach, SC, beloved daughter Alanna Estelle McCoy of Huahine, French Polynesia.
Phillip was a veteran of Gulf War in the U. S. Navy from 1986 to 1990 stationed in Pearl Harbor. Phillip loved surfing, kayaking, mountain climbing and his friends. He was a talented bass, electric and acoustical guitar player and enjoyed playing in the Friendship House band. He worked building the Kamalani Children’s Playground at Lydgate Park.
Donations may be made to: The Friends of Kamalani and Lydgate Park. His friends will hold a celebration of his life at 9:00 a.m. on September 5th at Lydgate Park.
