Anton “Tony” Irek of Wailua House Lots passed away in Hale Nani Rehabilitation Center on Oahu on August 19, 2014, at the age of 83. He was born in Croatia on July 15, 1931, and was a self employed piano teacher.
He is survived by his wife, Tomasa “Tita” Irek, three daughters, Shirley Irek, Elizabeth Tholberg, Julia Kearney; one son, Anthony Irek; 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Branko and Ivica; one sister, Ruzica, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, August 29, 2014, at St. Catherine Church with viewing from 8:30 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Kealia Cemetery.
Mitsuo Takamura of Lihue passed away on August 14, 2014 at home at age 81. Born on September 14, 1932 in Waimea, Kauai, he was the owner of Custom Auto Upholstery.
Preceded in death by his parents, Jutaro & Yukie Takamura, and siblings, Tsuruko, Shigeyuki, and Tomeichi Takamura, and Matsuko Ijima.
He is survived by his wife Jane Takamura; children, Joyce (Sieg) Mercado of Kauai, Lori (Jamieson) Otholt of Oahu, and Jon (Sherry Laride) Takamura of Kauai; grandchildren, Kevin, Jenna, and Shawn Mercado, Ryan and Chelsea Otholt, and Brooke Takamura; sisters, Midori Komori and Sally Okada; brothers, Tamotsu (Jan) Takamura, Yukio (Jean) Takamura, and Glenn (Debra) Takamura; sisters-in-law, Michan Takamura and Jane Takamura; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private Service was held.
Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
