Richard Tom
Richard M. D. Tom of Kapaa, Kauai died on May 29, 2014 at the age of 93. He was born on March 28, 1921 and was a retired Officer and Industrial Relations director at Grove Farm Company. He was also a retired Director, Officer, and Manager of the company-sponsored federal credit union.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian, daughter Stephanie Wong of Honolulu, sons Jonathan (Avis) Tom of Kapaa and Dr. Richard Dana (Laurie) Tom of Aiea, Oahu; Brothers Webster (Juliette) Tom of Honolulu and Thomas (Marietta) Tom of Palo Alto, CA. Surviving grandchildren are Richard Kiakona, Lyndsey, Kyler, Hali and Naleah Tom of Kapaa and Zachary and Courtney Tom of Aiea.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at All Saints Church in Kapaa. Visitation begins at 9:00 a.m. and services to commence at 10:00 a.m. with inurnment to follow in the church columbarium.
Ernest Moniz Jr.
Ernest Moniz Jr. of Kalaheo, Kauai, Hawaii passed away on June 7, 2014 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 65. Born on November 13, 1948 in Waimea, Kauai. He was a retired Battalion Fire Chief and an Electrical Contractor.
Preceded in death by his parents, Ernest & Virginia Lorraine Moniz.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Anne Takashige Moniz; son, Desmond Moniz; daughter, Jennifer Moniz; sister, Antonia Moniz; brothers, John (Faith) Moniz, Stacy (Bonny) Moniz, 1 granddaughter.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday June 21, 2014 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kalaheo with Visitation at 8:30 a.m. Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow at the Hanapepe Veterans Cemetery.

Michael D. “Mike” Ditch Sr. of Topeka, passed away on June 12, 2014 at the age of 55. Born in Topeka on March 27, 1959. He was an avid bowler.
Proceeded in death by his parents, Peggy Jo (Taylor) and Warren Bert Ditch Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Thompson; son, Michael (Kaitlin) Ditch Jr. of Wichita; daughter Jaime (Lucas) Hackmann of Topeka; sisters, Sharon McKinney of Missouri, Camellia (Kent) Crosby of Kauai, Lisa (Don) Jenkins of Topeka and Kimberly (Kevin) Hocking of Meriden; brothers, Warren (Connie) Ditch Jr., of Honolulu, Steven (Juanita) Ditch Sr. of Topeka, Gregory (Kathy) Ditch of Topeka, Rocky (Tracy) Ditch of Topeka, Quintin (Sue) Ditch of Topeka and Scott (Sara) Ditch of Topeka, numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Monday, June 16, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel.
Itsuko Nishimori
Itsuko Nishimori of Lihue passed away on June 2nd 2014 at home at age 86. Born on July 2, 1927 in Waimea, Kauai, she was a homemaker.
Proceeded in death by her husband , Richard Nishimori.
She is survived by her daughters, Laverne “Lovie” (John) Otsuka-Twomey of Honolulu and Sandra “Sandi” Nishimori of Lihue, granddaughter Cherisse Otsuka of Honolulu, great-grandson Cohl Otsuka Bence of Honolulu, sister Midori Yokotake of Hawaii Kai, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Alvin Cornwell
Alvin Edmund Cornwell of Kapaa passed away on May 25, 2014 at home at the age of 60. Born on December 4, 1953 in Honolulu, he was a professional bartender.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James L. “Kaipo” & Mabel Agnes Cornwell, and brother, Clayton Cornwell.
He is survived by his daughter Alayne Cornwell and son Royce Cornwell of Kapaa; sister Juanita “Sweetheart” Enos of Honolulu and brother James L. “Kimo” (Debbie) Cornwell of California; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of Alvin’s life will be held on Saturday, July 19th at 9 am on the beach at the Ewa side of Ala Moana Beach Park (Ewa of the Tennis Courts). His ashes will be scattered by family, friends and members of the Ala Moana Beach Surfing Association.

Eleanor Cox
Eleanor Medeiros Cox passed away on June 13, 2014 at her home in Omao, Kauai at the age of 97. Born on February 7, 1917 at her Omao home. She was a caregiver for all, and a homemaker.
Preceded in death by her parents; Mary and John (Jr) Medeiros; Brothers Lawrence, Alfred,
Daniel, Phillip, Edward, John, Abel and Sisters Clara Wiggins, Emily Garlenger.
She is survived by her daughters; Cookie (Bart) Thomas of Omao, Clara (Mel) Leasau; and Puanani (John) Holt. Sister Evelyn Cabral. Grandchildren; Michael Sylvia, Meleke Leasu, Eric Thomas, Caitlin Thomas, Cheryl Powell, Frank Powell, and Janelle Morris and numerous nieces, nephews and family.
A celebration of Life will be held on June 23, 2014 at St Raphael Catholic Church, Koloa with visitation at 09:00 am. Mass to be celebrated at 11:00am Burial to follow at the Koloa Cemetery.

Luviminda Alop Ortal of Kaumakani, Kauai, passed away on May 21, 2014 at the age of 67 at her residence. Born in Dingras, Ilocos Norte, Philippines she retired from Thrifty Mart as a Baker.
She is preceded in death by her husband Thomas Ortal. Her parents Pompeyo Sr. and Victoria Alop and brother Edwin Alop.
She is survived by her daughters, Adlaine Joy (Joey) Portela of Waipahu and Kristen Lyn (Mikey) Freitas of Kaumakani. Four grandchildren Alexis Taylor and Jayden Portela, Ethan Freitas, and Kaylen Tyler Alop; Brothers: Froilan (Lita) Alop, Enrile Alop, Danilo (Susan) Alop, Pompeyo Jr. (Rufina) Alop, Noel (Marilou) Alop, Jerson Alop, Samuel (Margie) Alop, Eugene (MaryAnn) Alop; Sisters: Febe (Ben) Gallardo, Editha (Reynante) Casteneda, and Marinore (Jerry) Cadiz.
