Dolores Marianela Fernandez
Dolores Marianela Fernandez of Lawai passed away on June 6, 2014 at Wilcox Hospital at the age of 63. She was born in Paia, Maui and was a Customer Service Representative for Pleasant Holidays.
She was preceded in death by her parents Nicasio and Alipia Pasion; brothers Amos and Rudy Pasion; sisters Gloria Inong and Rosalina Franco; father in law Cereal Fernandez.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Bernal Fernandez; daughter Chanelle (John) Quinones and son Beau (Michelle) Fernandez; sisters Mary (Richard) Cua of Kahului, Maui, Camilla (Julio) Carino of Waipahu, Oahu, Amparing Retialo of Ewa, Oahu, Florence (Fernando) Lomaoang of Ewa, Oahu; brothers Pablo Pasion of Paradise, California, Nicasio (Sandra) Pasion of Pahoa, Big Island, Rufino (Rowena) Pasion of Ewa Beach, Oahu; mother in law Catherine Fernandez of Koloa; brother in law Edward (Sheila) Fernandez of Mililani, Oahu; sisters in law Sherleen Fernandez of Koloa, Suzette (Greg) Kenney of Kekaha, Zaneeta (Bill) Quinn of Mililani, Oahu; grandchildren Shandee-Lyn Fernandez Sugimura, Caitlin Telles, Cairee Quinones, Jazmyn Fernandez, and Micah Fernandez. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services will be held at a later date.
Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Fernandez family with arrangements.
Herbert Kaneholani III
Herbert Kelii Kaneholani III of Lihue, Kauai passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on June 2, 2014 at the age of 45. Born on April 2, 1969 he was a handyman and Supervisor with S&A Renovations at the Kauai Marriott project.
Preceded in death by his parents: Paulette Kauwe-Kaneholani and Herbert Kaneholani Jr.
He is survived by his children, Bryson (Rebecca) Efhan-Kaneholani of (Colorado), daughter Kyrie Efhan-Kaneholani of (Colorado) and Anthony Kaneholani-Miyashiro of Kapaa; fiancé Tammy-Nicole Boro of Lihue; brother Joseph (Leslie) Kaneholani of Koloa and sister Rachel (Sam) Thomas of San Diego. 5 grandchildren, Kloey Efhan-Kaneholani, Maleah Santos, Serenity Efhan-Kaneholani, Leilani Efhan-Kaneholani and Malakai Efhan-Kaneholani, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Anahola Beach Park where Pastor, Steve Franks of Kings Chapel will perform the services. Casual attire is suggested.
Borthwick Kauai Mortuary, Koloa assisted the family with the cremation.

Rose Pontes Koerte of Kalaheo, Kauai passed away on May 31, 2014 at her home in Kalaheo, Kauai at the age of 87. Born on February 4, 1927 in Kalaheo, Kauai. She was a Retired Housekeeping with the Sheraton Kauai Resort.
Preceded in death by her Husband Otto Koerte
She is survived by her two daughters, Tammie (Gilbert) Medeiros, Andrea Kauamura, 5 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren, numerous Nieces, Nephews, Cousins & Friends.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday June 28, 2014 at Lihue Lutheran Church from 10:00 am. Where services will begin at 11:30 am Burial to follow at Kauai Veterans Cemetery.

Richard Cohen
Richard “Dick” Cohen, born in San Francisco on December 20, 1918. Passed away on March 30, 2014. WWII Marine in the Pacific, photographer, prolific abstract expressionist artist, SF police officer, sailor, poker player, Zen Master and world wanderer. Lived on Kauai – early Taylor Camp, Valley House, Kapahi. Happily returned to rural Hawaii Island 2004.
He is survived by his wife Janine, ex-wives Sally and Tobi. Children Lesley and Matthew. 5 grandchildren. We all miss his humor and insights.

Felipa Santos Castillo
Felipa Santos Castillo of Eleele, Kauai, passed away on June 2, 2014 at her home at the age of 94. Born on May 24, 1920 in the Philippines she was a Homemaker.
She is survived, Wilhelmina Castillo, Lillian Santos Caraang, Lani Santos Domingo, 4 Grandchildren and 3 Great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, friends and family.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday June 26, 2014 at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. and again on Friday June 27, 2014 at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo from 9:00 am. Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am. Burial to follow at the Hanapepe public cemetery.

Ernest Moniz Jr.
Ernest Moniz Jr. of Kalaheo, Kauai, Hawaii passed away on June 7, 2014 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 65. Born on November 13, 1948 in Waimea, Kauai. He was a retired Battalion Fire Chief and an Electrical Contractor.
Preceded in death by his parents, Ernest & Virginia Lorraine Moniz.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Anne Takashige Moniz; son, Desmond Moniz; daughter, Jennifer Moniz; sister, Antonia Moniz; brothers, John (Faith) Moniz, Stacy (Bonny) Moniz, 1 granddaughter.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday June 21, 2014 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kalaheo with Visitation at 8:30 a.m. Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow at the Hanapepe Veterans Cemetery.

Turk Tokita
Turk Tetsuo Tokita of Lihue passed away on June 7th 2014 at home at age 94. Born on May 25, 1920 in Lihue, Kauai, he was a WWII Veteran 442nd Infantry Regiment, and an Executive Officer for Kauai County Council.
He is survived by his wife, Emiko Tokita, sons, Lane (Tammy) Tokita of Lihue and Ken (Kelsie) Tokita of Honolulu, daughter, Mari (Timothy) Garner of Camas, Washington, five grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be held on June 25, 2014 at Veterans’ Center in Lihue at 5:00 pm with visitation from 3:30 pm. Family suggests casual attire and requests that flowers be omitted.

Luviminda Alop Ortal of Kaumakani, Kauai, passed away on May 21, 2014 at the age of 67 at her residence. Born in Dingras, Ilocos Norte, Philippines she retired from Thrifty Mart as a Baker.
She is preceded in death by her husband Thomas Ortal. Her parents Pompeyo Sr. and Victoria Alop and brother Edwin Alop.
She is survived by her daughters, Adlaine Joy (Joey) Portela of Waipahu and Kristen Lyn (Mikey) Freitas of Kaumakani. Four grandchildren Alexis Taylor and Jayden Portela, Ethan Freitas, and Kaylen Tyler Alop; Brothers: Froilan (Lita) Alop, Enrile Alop, Danilo (Susan) Alop, Pompeyo Jr. (Rufina) Alop, Noel (Marilou) Alop, Jerson Alop, Samuel (Margie) Alop, Eugene (MaryAnn) Alop; Sisters: Febe (Ben) Gallardo, Editha (Reynante) Casteneda, and Marinore (Jerry) Cadiz. Numerous nieces and nephews.

Thelma K. Blake of Koloa, Kauai, Hawaii, passed away on June 12, 2014 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 91. Born in Waimea, Kauai on November 5, 1922. She was a cook for Koloa Elementary School.
Preceded in death by Rev. Charles Blake.
She is survived by her sons, Dennis Blake of Koloa, Alva Blake of Koloa, 4 grandsons and 7 great grandchildren, numerous nieces & nephews.
