Registration for this year’s Mayor-a-thon is open at www.getfitkauai.com and the first 600 registered receive a free Mayor-a-thon T-shirt.
The annual event billed as “a morning of extreme fun and fitness” is set for June 21 at Kapaa Beach Park. It starts at 7:15 a.m. and is free.
“The Mayor-a-thon is an excellent opportunity to enjoy some physical fitness, and to celebrate a place on the island where we can walk safely, bike safely, and support physical activity in a safe environment, Kauai’s multi-use path, Ke Ala Hele Makalae. Anyone of any fitness level can do it — you can walk, bike, ride, stroll one to eight miles. Dogs on leashes are more than welcome,” said a press release.
All registered participants have a chance to win the grand prize, a two-night stay at the Kauai Marriott Resort as well as one of four bikes. People will also enjoy a free continental breakfast, dancing, games, more prizes and Zumba.
For those who want to leave their car at home, there will be the Mayor-a-thon Special Free Transport sponsored by The Kauai Bus.
