Byran Rego
Byran Lopaka Rego of Lihue passed away in Wilcox Memorial Hospital May 24, 2014, at the age of 36. He was born in Lihue on May 17, 1978, and was employed as a merchandising clerk with Home Depot.
Preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Nobu Rego Sr; maternal grandparents, Daniel and Roseline Rapozo.
He is survived by his wife, Shanda Rego; daughter, Nadja Saraos; parents, Robert and Priscilla Rego; brothers, Danny (Michele) Rego and Corey (Shantelle) Rego; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Salt Pond in Hanapepe with visitation from 9:30 a.m. and services celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Super Hero attire.
Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Rego family with arrangements.
Clyde Cox
Clyde Arnold Cox of Hanapepe died peacefully at home on April 10th 2014 at the age of 73. Born on June 4, 1940, in Bremerton, WA, he was an Electronic Engineer with Honeywell, NASA.
He is preceded in death by his wife Janet Cox.
He is survived by his son Clyde Cox Jr. of Olathe, KS, daughter Susan M. Cox (Kylan dela Cruz) of Hanapepe, HI, brother Darrell (Loretta) Cox of Aiea, HI, grandchildren, Brandee of Hanapepe, BreeAnn of Las Vegas, Blakelee of Hanapepe, Brittany of Waianae and Matthew Cox of Waianae, great-granddaughter ChaiLee Jeighne of Hanapepe, and niece Jainnie (Craig) Jenkins of Colorado. Also surviving are numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and his pets, Bambee, Soft Kittee, and Pants.
Services for Clyde will be June 4, 2014, 10:30 a.m. at the Kauai Veterans’ Cemetery, Hanapepe.
Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Dorothy Lai
Dorothy Ann Sumako Lai, 79, passed away at her residence in Kapaa on May 12, 2014. Born and raised in Waianae, Oahu, she retired as a transcription supervisor at Kuakini Medical Center.
She is survived by her husband Clifford; sons Derek and Scott Uyeoka; daughter Lauren Takaoka; mother Kimiko Hayashi; brothers Douglas and Clyde Hayashi; sisters Faye Aki and Elaine Horie; six grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Graveside services for family and friends will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested, flowers accepted. No monetary offerings please.
Steven Kanoho
Steven Keiki Kanoho of Honolulu and Kauai passed away on May 12, 2014 at the age of 72. Born on August 19, 1941 he was a Veteran, served in U.S. Army, retired glazier.
He is survived by his wife, Claudia Kanoho; Daughters, Wendy (Troy) Torres, Melissa Ann “Lisa” (Jason) Popejoy; Sons, Calvin Kanoho, Alvin “Kipukai” Kanoho; Grandchildren, Tyson “Makana” Kanoho, Camille “Ona” Popejoy, Jaylyn “Mahea” Barnard, Tommy Troy Torres Jr.; Sisters, Eloise (Eddie) Taniguchi, Sr., Leilani (Stanley) Suenaga, Noelani Ornellas, Jackie (Greg) Figueira; Brothers, Makalapua Kanoho, Harry Kanoho and numerous nieces, newphews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, June 16, 2014 at the Kauai Veterans Center, Lihue, Kauai. Viewing begins at 10 a.m. Service to follow at 11 a.m.
Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary is assisting the Kanoho family with arrangements.

Luviminda “Minda” Alop Ortal of Kaumakani, Kauai, Hawaii, passed away on May 21, 2014 at the age of 67 at her residence. Born on October 20, 1946 in Dingras Ilocos Norte, Philippines. She was a bakery manager at Thrifty Mart, Kaumakani.
Preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Ortal; parents, Pompeyo and Victoria Alop Sr.; brother, Edwin Alop.
She is survived by his daughters, Adlaine Joy (Joey) Portela, Oahu, Kristen Lyn (Mikey) Freitas Jr., Kauai. 4 grandchildren; brothers, Froilan (Lita) Alop, Philippines, Enrile Alop, Philippines, Danilo (Susana) Alop, Eleele, Pompeyo (Rufina) Alop Jr., Eleele, Noel (Marilou) Alop, Puhi, Jerson Alop, Kaumakani, Samuel (Margie) Alop, Puhi, Eugene (Mary Ann) Alop, Las Vegas; sisters, Febe (Ben) Gallardo, Philippines, Editha (Reynante) Casteneda, Philippines, Marinore (Jerry) Cadiz, Oahu, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends may visit the family on Saturday June 21, 2014 at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary Chapel, Koloa. Visitation 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM. Burial to follow at Hanapepe Public Cemetery.
