Mahonna Sherwood
Mahonna E. Sherwood, 85, passed away on April 17th, 2014 at Kauai, Hawaii surrounded by family and friends. Mahonna was born on May 31st, 1928 in Claremore, Oklahoma, the eldest child of Tom and Esther Stone. She was raised in Tulsa and graduated from Central High School in 1946.
Mahonna is survived by her sister, Yuvonne Taylor (Bill) of Tyler Texas, and her children, Theodore C. (Ted) Sherwood (Becky), Karen Sherwood (Michael Olanolan) and Kathy Arnold (Wally). She is also survived by six grandchildren, Theodore J. (Ted) Sherwood, Michael Arnold, Ted Arnold, Nick Arnold, Chris Arnold and Sam Arnold.
Mahonna was a legal secretary by profession and served many good lawyers in Tulsa. She loved to travel and was a voracious reader. Mahonna had many dear friends in Tulsa and on Kauai. She enjoyed the last 10 years of her life living in Princeville and Haena, close to and later with her beloved Karen and Karen’s husband Michael. We will miss her lively conversation, keen wit, and love of the arts.
Arthur Shaw, Jr.
Arthur Henry Shaw, Jr. of Lihue, Kauai passed away on May 5, 2014 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 88. Born on July 10, 1925, in Oakland, California. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Aleutian Islands, an accountant with C. Brewer & Co. in Honolulu and Sunriver Resort in Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Arthur H. and Irene Shaw, and sister Martha (Clifford) Wisdom.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Gillin Shaw; two sons, David (June) Shaw of North Carolina, and Richard (Joan) Shaw of Kauai; five grandchildren, Ryan Shaw, Erik (Steph) Shaw, Nicole (Nick) Petersen, Erin (Jed) Gushman, and Sarah Shaw; and three great-grandchildren, Brody, Peyton and Beckett Petersen.
Gifts in his memory may be sent to Shriners Hospitals for Children or Salvation Army.
Private services will be held at a later date.
