Kuhio Highway partially closed in Hanama‘ulu following sewage spill

HANAMA‘ULU – Kaua‘i police have closed the right southbound lane on Kuhio Highway, between Hanama‘ulu and Ma‘alo Road to allow responding agencies to assess and fix a blocked sewer line.

A sewage spill was reported in the area at approximately 7:20 a.m.

The Wastewater Division is managing the situation with assistance from the Roads Division, Kaua‘i Police Department and the State Department of Transportation.

While the work is being done, motorists are urged to avoid the area and seek an alternate route to get to their destination.
