LIHU‘E — Vicente Kote Kapika Hilario, 26, of Anahola, convicted Friday of first-degree murder after a two month trial, had a separate felony case dismissed in 5th Circuit Court Monday.
Chief Judge Randal Valenciano dismissed a felony drug charge in a separate case, at the recommendation of the prosecutor and without objection from the defense.
Hilario was arraigned on a charge of second-degree promotion of a detrimental drug on Dec. 8, 2011. The a case that made its way to the 5th Circuit via District Court, and stems from a marijuana possession charge prior to his arrest for murder.
Court appointed defense attorney Warren Perry represented Hilario. The state was represented by County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Timothy Tobin.
Hilario faces the possibility of life in prison without parole for the murder of Aureo Moore, 34, at Anahola Beach Park on Dec. 17, 2010. The sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 13.
