LIHU‘E — No one was injured following an accident where a truck crashed through a wall of a utility room at the Lihu‘e Baptist Church Monday.
According to a witness, the truck had completed unloading a fork lift for the St. Francis Dialysis facility in the parking lot of the church, located at the intersection of ‘Elua Street and Ahukini Road in Lihu‘e.
However, the truck was having problems getting started and the driver went out to try and jump start the vehicle.
Unaware the truck was in gear, the engine started. The driver attempted to get control of the vehicle, but it crashed into the wall, the witness said.
“It was lucky no one was in the room, or the driver in the truck,” the witness said. “No one got hurt.”
Preparations for shoring up the damaged walls of the utility building were underway Tuesday afternoon so the truck could be removed.
