Jose Costales, Sr.
Jose C. Costales, Sr. of Kekaha, Kauai, passed away on September 4, 2012 at Kauai Veteran Memorial Hospital at the age of 97. Born on March 25, 1915 in the Philippines, he was a retired truck driver for the Sugar Plantation.
He was preceded in death by his parents Segundo & Heneveva Costales; son, Patrick Costales; and grandson, Shayden Csigi.
He is survived by his wife, Mary T. Costales; brother, Pedro, (Ceferina) Costales; sister-in-law, Caroline Unciano; sons, Martin (Haunani) Costales, Ernest Costales, Jose (Rosemarie) Costales, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Sue Costales; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces & nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at St. Theresa’s Church in Kekaha from 8:00 am to 9:45 am. where mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am, burial to follow at Kekaha Public Cemetary.
Casual attire is requested.

Teveyeh Goldsman
Teveyeh “Tev” Goldsman of Kapa’a, Kaua’i, Hawai’i passed away in Los Angeles, California on August 19, 2012 at the age of 78. Born on November 10, 1933 in Washington D.C., he was a retired therapist at the Kauai Community Mental Health Center in Lihu’e, Hawai’i.
He is survived by his wife Shandra “Shanna” Ancheta; his four children, Akiva Goldsman, Jessica Watson, Sabrina Goldsman, all of California, and Drew Goldsman of New York; and his sisters Celia “Cel” Keller and Faiga “Fay” Levine, both of Silver Spring, Maryland.
A memorial service will be held at Congregation Mount Sinai in Brooklyn, New York on September 16th. The service begins at 11:00 am and will be followed by a reception. To contact family please write to: tevmemorial@gmail.com.
Ernest Almeida
Ernest “Uncle Ernie” “Maka’i” M. Almeida of Hilo and formerly of Poipu, Kauai, died on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home at the age of 87.
Born in Koloa, Kauai, Hawaii, he was a retired Sergeant and District Commander for the Kauai Police Department and retired from the Hyatt Regency Kauai. He also served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant during WWII and was a member of the I.L.W.U.
He is survived by daughter, Marlene (John) Maze of Honolulu, Oahu; sons, Mark (Linda) Almeida of Tacoma, Washington and Robert Almeida of Hilo, Hawaii; brothers, Harold Kang of Oahu, and William Almeida of Oahu; sister, Lucille Yuen of California; caregiver, Ruby (Melvin) Gacusana of Hilo; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services were held.
