‘EWA BEACH — Keegan Loo of Lihu‘e fired a second round 80 to tie with Matthew Shen of Kapolei in the Boys 13-14 division at the 2012 Junior Tour Series — O‘ahu on Tuesday hosted by the Hawai‘i State Junior Golf Association at the Coral Creek Golf Course on O‘ahu.
But the effort fell short as Shen, firing a 77 during the Monday opening round, topped the division with a two-day 157, relegating Loo to the runner-up spot two strokes back at 159 playing a par 72 at 6,500 yards.
In the win, Loo, tied with Ryan Kunihisa following the opening day, but broke away, Kunihisa ending with a second round 82 for third place at a two-day 161.
Loo was one of two Kaua‘i Junior Golfers participating in the JTS Series along with Taylor Viquelia of Koloa who played in the Girls 15-18 division.
Viquelia, firing an opening round 87, rebounded for a strong second day, ending in a tie with Kaci Masuda of Honolulu with a four-over par 76 and settled for ninth place in the division on a two-day total 163 while Masuda, firing an opening round 79, catapulted to second place with a two-day total 155 on the par 72, 5,912-yard course.
Rose Huang of Honolulu repeated her opening round one-under par 71 to top the Girls 15-18 division with a 142.
Skye Inakoshi of Honolulu shot the best round of the tournament with a second round score of four-under par 68 for a two-day total of even par 144 to win the Boys 15-18 division playing a par 72 at 6,500 yards.
Anna Elizabeth Lesa of Kaneohe, O‘ahu, ended with a two-day 195 to top the Girls 7-10 division who played a par 72 at 4,935 yards and Ethan Finau, also of Kaneohe, topped the Boys 7-10 on a two-day 152, holding off Alex Song, firing a two-over par 74 in the second round, by three strokes on the par 72 at 4,935 yards.
Kristin Miyagi of Honolulu, ending the opening round in third place with an 86, rebounded with a second round one-over par 73 to top the Girls 11-12 division at 159, tying Miki Manta, also of Honolulu, who ended with a second round 76 for the 159 total.
Kane Rogers of Honolulu strengthened his opening round lead of 80 with a second day three-over par 75 to take the Boys 11-12 division on a 155 on the par 72 course playing 5,912 yards.
Mari Nishiura of Mililani, O‘ahu, tumbled from her opening round 74 to card a second day 82, ending in a tie with Aiko Leong of Honolulu at 156 in the Girls 13-14 division, Leong firing an opening round 76.
