The Kaua‘i Masonic Lodge presented the winners of its annual essay contest with their awards at a luncheon held at the Brick Oven Pizza in Kapa‘a.
Those receiving a $1,000 scholarship award are seniors Lei Ann Manera of Kaua’i High School, Angelica Tran of Waimea High School and Rachel Meek of Kapa‘a High School.
Those receiving the Benjamin Franklin Award, which is for the winner among the freshman, sophomore and junior classes, are sophomore Donald Traller, Kaua‘i High School, and junior Jessica Lee Tangalin, Waimea High School.
Scholarships are made possible by a bequest of Bob and Sally Hyman and numerous other donors. Each year, applications are available at the Counselor’s Office at each public high school.
