Kudos to Josie Pablo who got the staff of the Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital to host a Valentine’s Day party for the long-term care residents.
Josie said the tiara worn by Hanako Ishida, the Valentine queen, was originally worn by Veronica, Josie’s daughter, for the Kapa‘a homecoming.
Congratulations to King Alfred Pacheco, Princess Melody Pascual (she was the queen, previously) and Prince Toraichi Marugame.
Coach Kara Kitamura couldn’t get all of the students in the Kapa‘a High School Health Occupations Students of America and her clinical studies class to attend, but came with Candice Miner-Ching, vice president of HOSA, to distribute Valentine’s Day cards created by the more than 70 students in the program.
But Valentine’s is only the start of the calendar for Mahelona Hospital residents. Josie said Jack Gushiken is going to join the group for whale watching at the Kilauea Lighthouse, and Pepe Trask of the Kilohana Railway is hosting the residents during Leap Day.
