Pauline Bonwell
Pauline (Paula) Y. Bonwell died suddenly on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at her home in East Wenatchee, Wash. She was born on Jan. 27, 1941, in Waimea, Kaua‘i, to Isidro and Carmalina (Asignar) Buduan. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was raised in Kaumakani and attended ‘Ele‘ele Elementary School and graduated from Waimea High School with the class of 1961.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ronald Bonwell and one brother, Charlie Buduan.
She is one of ten siblings, Julia (Genzu) Nabeshima of Hawai‘i; Gail (Gilbert) Aguilar of Louisiana; Shermane (Henrey) Chu of Hawai‘i; Dennis (Ophelia) Buduan of Hawai‘i; Stanley Buduan (Bob) of Hawai‘i; Roy Buduan (Loyd) of Hawai‘i; Leon (Lynette) Buduan of Washington and Louis (Chong Ae) Buduan of Oregon.
She is also survived by three daughters and their husbands, Laura and Darin Bender of Wenatchee; Darla and Troy Racus of East Wenatchee and Rhonda and Chad Yenney of Wenatchee; seven grandchildren, Ashlee Shirgley (Joe) of Covington, Wash.; Adam, Austin and Alex Racus all of East Wenatchee; Emma and Maxwell Yenney and Riley Bender all of Wenatchee; one great-grandson, Zaiden Shirgley; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dan and Judy Bonwell of East Wenatchee and several nieces and nephews.
Clarita Cacal
Clarita Capalong Cacal of Hanapepe died peacefully at home on Dec. 14, 2011. She was born in Tondo, Manila, Philippines. She was a retired heavy equipment operator with Kekaha Sugar Plantation,
She is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel Capulong and Consalacion Serrano and brother, Adriano Capalung.
She is survived by sons, Roland (Elisa) Cacal of Hanapepe; Isidro “Sonny” (Tammy Lynn) Cacal of Lihu‘e, Robert (Charlene) Cacal of Hanapepe, Richard Cacal (Chuck Danilowski) of Kona; daughters Vivian Cacal Perry of Hanapepe, Joann (Wesley) Ikeda of Po‘ipu; Glorayin “Glory” (Duane) Cacal Carveiro of Kalaheo; daughter-in-law, Michele Cacal of Hanamaulu; granddaughters/caregivers, Gezmynn (Levi) Viguelia of Hanapepe and Genesse Cacal Ignacio of Kalaheo; brothers, Manuel Capulong, Jr. and Carlito Galpo; sisters, Juanita Galpo and Reana Galpo all of the Philippines; 25 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel. Visitation is from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Services to begin at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Lihu‘e Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested. Flowers welcome.
Phyllis Saito
Phyllis Maria Saito of Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i, died Dec. 11, 2011, at Straub Clinic & Hospital in Honolulu at age 64. She was born April 13, 1947, in Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i. She was a retired purchasing agent.
She is survived by sisters, Melinda M. (Donald) Puschin, Priscilla A. Texeira, Katherine Mata, and Veronica Texeira; nephews, niece, grandnieces and grand nephews.
Services are pending.

Guillermo Millare
Guillermo B. Millare Sr. of Lihu‘e died on Dec. 11, 2011, at the age of 89. He was born on May 12, 1922, in Bangued, Abra, Philippines. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ciriano Millare and mother, Maria Biares.
He is survived by his wife, Shealane B. Millare of Lihu‘e; four sons, Guillermo (Lisa) Millare of Hanapepe; Wayne (Doreen) Millare of Waimea; Nathan (Luz) Millare of Lihu‘e and Derek (Kaleko) Millare of Koloa; three daughters, Millimoana Stanley of Lihu‘e; Blanche Johnson of Honolulu and Ashlee Millare of Lihu‘e; 19 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, two brothers, four sisters and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial Services will be held on Dec. 17, at the Lihu‘e Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Service to begin at 10 a.m. Burial Service will be on Dec. 19, at 10 a.m. at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens. The family suggests aloha attire.

Regina O. Ventura
Regina O. Ventura of Kapa‘a died on Dec. 10, 2011, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 89. She was born on July 22, 1922, in Kapahi. She worked for the Hawaiian Fruit Packers Cannery and after the cannery closed, she became a cook for the BVM sisters at St. Catherine’s Convent. She was a retired State of Hawai‘i employee at Samuel Mahelona Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mariana Ornellas; sister, Mabel (Clarence) Ebinger; brothers, Albert, Joaquin, John, Joseph and Patrick Ornellas; her beloved husband, Jules Ventura Jr. and her cherished sons, Wayne Maurice; Gregory Jules and Jules John Ventura.
She is survived by her daughters, Paulette Ann Vierra; Kitty Catherine (Vernon) Basuel and Regina Eva Ventura; grandchildren, Veronica Nagahisa; Lenette Vierra; Vernon Basuel II; Brookelynn Basuel; Antony (A.J.) Basuel; Kawika Ventura; Cameron Ventura; Clayton Ventura; Lisa Bowsman; Blaise Ventura; Teresa Surdi and 31 great grandchildren; daughter-in-laws, Irene (Wayne) Ventura and Linda (Gregory) Ventura; sisters, Mary Ornellas; Theresa (Jacob) Martins; Pauline (John) Fernandes; sister, Catherine Ornellas BVM; Julia “Julie” (Stanley) Souza and Eva Ornellas.

Alberto Andres
Alberto Jose Andres, 89, of Kekaha, a retired irrigation worker with Kekaha Sugar Plantation, died on Dec. 13, 2011, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital. He was born in Laoag City, Philippines.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Mr. and Mrs. Gonsalo Andres.
He is survived by his wife Liz Feliza Andres of Kekaha;4 sons Alwin (Jeannie)Andres of Arizona, Alex Andres of O‘ahu, Joel (Shana)Andres of Lihu‘e, and Allan (Roxanne) Andres of Hanapepe; four daughters Lisa (Endy) Francisco of Waipahu, Alicia (Caven) Raco of Lihue, Aileen Andres of O‘ahu and Adele (David) Riddarskjold also of O‘ahu; 13 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Dec. 22, 2011, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kapaia. Visitation will be from 8 a.m.to 9:45 a.m. Mass to begin at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Garden. Family suggests casual attire.

Ronald Chen
Ronald James Chen of Kalaheo died on Dec. 10, 2011, at Garden Island Healthcare at the age of 70. He was born on June 16, 1941, in Lowell, Mass. He was a retired manager of communications for NASA.
He loved his family and took great joy in their dog Selah. He was an avid guitar player with the Kalaheo ‘Ukulele Senior Ohana and also played violin with the KCC orchestra. He spent his extra time in service to his community, coaching tennis at Waimea High School and driving for the American Cancer Society. He served his country in the Vietnam War. During his 40-year career with NASA, he worked in Koke‘e and at the Johnson Space Center, where he received one of the most prestigious awards given by NASA.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Goon Chen and mother, Ruth (Chin) Chen.
He is survived by his wife, Annette “Dang” Chen; his daughter, Ronny (Benji) Klindt; son, Curtis (Kate) Chen; sister, Judy (Jimmy) Maryou; brother, Wayne (Randi) Chen; 4 grandchildren, Nainoa and Brandon Klindt; Kainoa and Malia Chen; many nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Jimmy and Johnny Dang and sister-in-law, Phyllis (Eddie) Ching.
Services will be held on Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011, at Kaua‘i Christian Fellowship at 2731 Ala Kinoiki Rd., Koloa (Koloa bypass road). Visitation time is 1 to 2 p.m. with services to follow. Aloha attire is suggested. A private burial will be held.

Theresa Reyes
Theresa “Terry” V. Reyes of ‘Ele‘ele, Kaua‘i, Hawai‘i, died peacefully on Dec. 2, 2011, at the age of 73. She was born on Oct. 24, 1938, and retired as a civil service worker from Kaneohe Marine Corps Base and managed Kaua‘i Veteran Center from 1994 to 2008.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph H. Reyes; sisters, Leonora Banasihan, Felipa Esteban and Maria Anahori; brothers, Maximo Villinda and Dominador Villanida and son in-law, Teddy Ellamar.
She is survived by daughters, Brenda (Stuart) Braun of Wailua; Jeannette Ellamar of ‘Ele‘ele; Joann (Tim) Bragalone of ‘Ele‘ele; grandchildren, Aaron Braun of Wailua; Delcey (Ryan) Garma of Wailua; Joey (Pollen) Stevens of Honolulu; Loke (Darrin Martin) Ellamar of Kalaheo; Jensen (Christie) Reyes of ‘Ele‘ele; Charmine Reyes of Kapa‘a and Charsen Reyes of Kalaheo; sisters, Philomena Peralta of Tacoma, Wash., and Erinia Figaroa of Lihu‘e; brother, Johnson (Sharon) Villanida of Kalaheo; 11great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, family and friends.
Services will be held at Sacred Hearts Catholic Church in ‘Ele‘ele on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011. Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. and Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Hanapepe Veterans Cemetery.
