Over 70 participants from ages 15 to 79, including several players from Japan and the Mainland took the to courts at the Kaua‘i Athletic Club for the tournament.
Kaua‘i’s B/C Doubles pair of Joey and Mikal Moranz downed Bruce Prout and Alvinson in the B/C championship match, winning 21-10, 21-15.
In the White Ace Doubles division, Robert Elliot and Clay Hiramoto of Kaua‘i won the championship, beating out Yuko Uchida and Michiyo Yasuda, 3-2.
In the Open A Doubles bracket, Kaua‘i’s Armand Mora and Randy Multack were edged out, 21-3, 21-8 in the finals by Danny Solario and Nick Cosmas.
In the 60s Singles bracket, Joe Cox defeated Jerry Travens 21-7. In the 60s Doubles, Sherwin Beck and Mike Hardy emerged victorious over Rocky Johnson and Joe Noriega, 3-2.
In the B/C Singles bracket, Masakazu Uchida defeated Lou Mancini, 21-13, 21-13. The pair of Dave Kerrone and Lea McMillan won 4-2 over Gabriel Noriega and Vern Waligora for the 70s doubles title and Donna Mosely defeated Joe Moranz for the White Ace Singles crown in three sets, 21-20, 20-21, 11-5.
