Clarence Curran
C.P. “Duke” Curran of Kapa‘a died Sept. 30, 2011, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 90. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on April 5, 1921, he was a U.S. Army, ret., 165 INF “The Fighting 69th.”
He is survived by his wife, Veronica Curran; daughters, Lois Handwerker of New York, Geraldine (Leonard) Marro of New York and Clare Gude of New York; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Kapa‘a on Tuesday, Oct. 11. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. with service at 10 a.m. Burial will be held at a later date in New York.
Arrangements by are made by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary Koloa.
Gladys Arashiro
Gladys Tokiko Arashiro of Wailua Houselots died Sept. 26, 2011, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 80. Born Sept. 9, 1931, in Koloa, she was a restaurant manager/vice president with Wailua Marina Restaurant.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Kiyoshi Arashiro; son, Kurt Arashiro; and sister, Rachel “Michan” (Susumo) Oshiro.
She is survived by her sons, Sam (Jennifer) Arashiro of Lihu‘e and Craig Arashiro of Wailua Houselots; daughters, April Arashiro and Darlene Arashiro both of Wailua Houselots; three grandchildren; brothers, Robert M. (Elizabeth) Kaneshiro and Hisashi Kaneshiro both of Honolulu; sisters, Betty Chiyo Doi and Nancy Yuriko (Harry) Sekiya both of Honolulu and Tomoe (Charles) Osborne of California; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 12, at the Kapa‘a Missionary Church; service at 3:30 p.m. Casual attire is suggested.
