Leah Scovel had her entire family in tow while checking out the Lawa‘i Cannery garage sale benefiting the Kaua‘i Special Olympics, Sunday. She said they had to hurry because they were heading to ‘Anini Beach (Yukie DeSilva wants to know if the oama is biting).
Val Rynda came late but still managed to find some goodies (three shopping bags worth?), and Charmaine Simao said the next one will be in September so she’s going to do the Halloween Haunted House and Christmas thingie (Lights on Rice coming, Dec. 2).
Lorna Santos said Darryl Date and his crew are becoming regulars at the garage sale, and Stel Pimental was having a good time with everyone, even having an opportunity to check out the “man cave” which was a really popular spot (the fishing poles sold out early!).
Annette Hashimoto had one of her daughters in tow looking for cookbooks with local recipes (check out the KVMH one at the Mahelona Auxiliary Thrift Shop) and found a couple, but said you can’t find everything on the first go-around, and the Steve’s Mini Mart (Jocelyn Barriga’s ‘ohana) malasadas were so-o-o ono, there was no need for new words.
