NAWILIWILI — A group of robbers beat up a 53-year-old German tourist and stole his wallet in Nawiliwili early Wednesday morning.
At about 3 a.m., the culprits assaulted the man near the Kama‘aina Surf and Sport shop in the 3400 block of Rice Street, according to a county press release.
The man, who received scrapes and cuts to his head, hands and forearms, was taken to Wilcox Hospital for treatment and later released.
No arrests have been made at this time. Police are continuing their investigation of this incident.
County spokeswoman Sarah Blane said that due to the fact that this is an active, ongoing investigation, police could not release any additional details at this time.
“However, it does appear to be an isolated incident and they are currently investigating any and all possible leads,” Blane said in an email to The Garden Island.
