KALALAU — Rescuers airlifted a 50-year-old man from Washington State on Tuesday afternoon after he began suffering from dehydration, county officials said Wednesday. The man had been camping in Kalalau Valley and was hiking back when he began feeling ill.
KALALAU — Rescuers airlifted a 50-year-old man from Washington State on Tuesday afternoon after he began suffering from dehydration, county officials said Wednesday.
The man had been camping in Kalalau Valley and was hiking back when he began feeling ill. A hiker in the area walked out to the trailhead and notified Ke‘e Beach lifeguards of the situation at about 2 p.m.
Rescuers aboard the county’s Air-1 helicopter located the man by 3:30 p.m. and airlifted him to the Princeville Airport where awaiting medics were able to treat and release him.
